I know the bigger names in that realm, obviously (Crowbar, Inter Arma and Neurosis are certainly in the ballpark) but what might I be missing? Give Floor a shot, they're kinda like Torche's doomier brother. Also listen to Torche. Steve Brooks is good, y'all.

Weedeater always scratches that Southern Sludge itch for me. Also Fistula, but I have some mixed feelings about some of their output. Old Man Gloom is sorta in the same vein as well. And I can't let Doom discussion go by without mentioning Thou, who put out two of the best sludge records in the last 5 years. Magus is a loving masterpiece.

I think I’m going to get some tickets to Maiden, the last time I was going to see them it was the Powerslave tour and Bruce cancelled the show at the last minute because of a sore throat or something. The few times I’ve tried to get tickets to big shows I end up getting lovely seats even when I order the second they become available. Are there tricks for getting decent seats or should I just pay more on stubhub later if I don’t want an awful spot?

The trick for Maiden is to buy a floor ticket and get in line 3+ hours early and then run to the front

David DiSanto just posted this on Vektor's FB page: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10155685356941821&id=58352991820quote:Alright. There’s a lot that needs to be said. I’m tired of reading misinformed people’s comments about what happened with myself and former members of Vektor. I could write an entire book about what happened, but I have a respect for my friends that goes beyond our immediate discrepancies that led to our falling apart. Trust me, I know, it loving sucks. I miss those guys and I’m sure they miss me too, or at least what we did together. They were pretty much my entire world. They were that shining beacon of light that I had to look forward to every week in regards to band practice. Band practice became so ingrained on my mind that that’s what kept me going week to week. I still to this day don’t have anything as bonding as two days a week band practice and it’s something I’m trying to work through/resolve. It’s tough even getting to that point, it’s tough during that point, and it’s even tougher when it doesn’t work out. It may not mean a ton to you, if you're not a massive Vektor fan like I am. But I think it means a lot, in context of the amazing albums they made and how tension and friction and frustration can really drive art. Knowing that Terminal Redux is not just a sci-fi thrash epic, but also a concept album about the rapidly approaching end of a band relationship, makes it even greater in my mind.

I’m a huge fan of his. Unbelievably great guitarist, songwriter and seems like a good introspective person as well. The album didn’t need any more outside detail but I’m glad we got it. My next listen will certainly be a little different.

So I got into Immolation back when their newest album, Atonement came out and people in this thread were talking it up. That album does indeed rule. Like every drat song is good, and I have probably listened to that album like 100 times. What album of theirs do I go to next? Also I am going to see Cannibal Corpse on Tuesday. I've never been super into them and have really only listened to the Chris Barnes era stuff(mainly the Bleeding). They are still solid live right? My friend's band is opening so I am really going for that, but I figure it will be a decent show. Also, have some Bolt Thrower: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wRTxBhqNuY

They have perfected their live show to the point where it’s been basically the exact same, word for word, show that it’s been for 20 years. They’re pretty solid every single time.
