Do you seize the means of production violently or by democratic means? How exactly is the dictatorship of the proletariat structured? Which one? Any of them assuming you have the time. Something like the Conquest of Bread is a good starting point for a left libertarian bent because it's straightforward & fairly short. Theory is useful. It shouldn't subsume the practical, but having a theoretical base helps understand the world, a thing that is handy it you envision changing it significantly.Or course there's plenty contradictions and different interpretations, theory is essentially philosophy. That's not a good reason to not have a grounding in Marx. Is it essential? No. But it's a useful backbone. If nothing else it helps you learn from the mistakes of those who've gone before you. If you can't see why that's useful then I dunno what to tell you.

Just got my primary voter guide yesterday and something stood out right away for me. On the candidates page, their eyes have been photoshopped to look whiter and the result is uncanny. Also what's the deal with Prop 1? Seems good from just skimming.

DSA is a Twitter subculture with a vestigal bankrupt organization comprised of people who would be better served in different organizations like progressive dems, psl, or food not bombs, but people who call them putinists are hilariously stupid

As a person in DSA, I can comfortably say that every DSA is its own weird cell that is utterly different from every other cell and has basically nothing to do with National and in fact usually hates it. It's just a generic holding tank for area leftists of every stripe who are waiting for conditions to change enough that more redacted forms of political action become viable. It's a lot of forming mutual aid networks with other left groups. All of the weird horny polyamorists and sex creeps were drummed out of our chapter like 8 years ago at this point and every other left group mentioned in the "you should do this instead" post are by and large some form of insane, incompetent, filled with the sex creep dregs, or collapsing in on themselves for all of those reasons plus others. Politics is fake in America and we're all just trying to figure poo poo out locally until such time as politics is not fake.

At least CalEPA let you read between the lines, because other letters made the directors look like boot licking simps horny for the office. But good news, you can travel to your nearest office, even if it's not your agency. You know, to collaborate. Another excellent example of the inability to truly address climate change and its causes.

The Orange County Coalition of Police and Sheriffs want Prop 1 to happen, which tells me it's probably extremely bad and shouldn't happen. The Howard Jarvis dickheads might just be opposing it incidentally, because they always oppose anything that might raise taxes on rich people.

Been nice to see the unions start to work together to address this since between RTO and the governor wanting to negotiate the piddly stipend away, Newsome should absolutely be getting reamed over it. Not that I ever got to fuckin telework ever throughout covid anyhow but oh fuckin well

Wow I'm going through the candidate statements in the voter info guide and... we sure have an above average amount of complete loonies running this time, huh? Also lmao at me reading Don J. Grundmann's schizopost entry to my wife and her response being "This guy sounds like evil Dr. Bronner." I also read the Political Party Statements of Purpose pages, and why are Green and Peace & Freedom not just forming a bloc? They have the same agenda. Just call yourselves the Socialist Party or something, it's what you both say you're running on. Honestly, American Independent and Libertarian could probably fold into each other as well for how similar and crypto-fash their agendas are. The Republican Party one calls out the need to fix the high cost of living, and I have no clue what their policy proposition could possibly be to fix that. Probably something laughable like "eliminate taxes on businesses, so they can pass those savings on to consumers" or "everyone gets a slave from prison."

The real fun elections are recalls Dr. Don J Bronner definitely has the brain worms though. His campaign website has a long winded rant about how some shadowy elites are using The Matrix (yes, from the movie) to scam people via the Fed, the IRS, and for some reason, the assassination of RFK. This is one of his saner takes
