That's happening all Mania weekend and it's kind of hilarious. I guess he can pretend Masquerade is together a little, as a treat.

I'd like to make that show, but it conflicts with tickets I already have. I'm seeing them at Defy and JCW on the same day at least, but I'll unfortunately miss the CMLL guys unless they show up on other cards too (which honestly is pretty likely at this point). It's crazy how much DG guys are getting booked though, most of them are doing 2-3 matches every day for the whole weekend.

Jae was on Open the Voice Gate awhile back and he was spitballing ideas to raise Dragongate's profile in the west and the big one he landed on was sending DG guys around to the Mania weekend shows to try and recreate the buzz of the ROH Do Fixer/Blood Gen match and I guess some people in the company had the same idea. Picked a group of guys and booked as much poo poo as they possibly could for Philly.

Yeah, Joey Janela is promoting a trios match on his Spring Break show as the spiritual successor to the famous ROH one. They're even acknowledging the generations, which is neat.

Ho Ho Lun also books everyone internationally on these shows, so whatever DG is paying the English commentary team, it's not enough.

Corgis love bread. And Puro

Weekly schedule. Stardom wrap up the Cinderella Tournament, Rey de Parejas runs on, we got New Japan finishing up their tournament, NOAH have their Tag League winners challenging for the GHC Titles, & DDT have an insanely stacked Judgement show. Although personally I dread the prospect of a 5 hour show even knowing I'll not watch half of it. Prominence are redoing Chris Brookes vs Risa Sera, hoping that this one won't end in injury. The match I think I'm most excited for on paper is Big Japan's Strong Heavyweight Title match, Yuya Aoki being challenged by Takuya Nomura. Going to slap. FREEDOMS also have a new young boy debuting.

I've also included a couple of shows from Michinoku Pro & Sendai Girls, hoping that either or both will show up on Wrestle Universe. I really don't know. But man, DOUKI vs MUSASHI sounds like it will loving rock. Meanwhile that Sunday SenJo show? Iwata vs Kawahata, Team200kg vs ZONES & Nanae, VENY & Yuko Sakurai vs Mio Momono & Yurika Oka, and then a Tag Title match with Aniki & Manami challenging Reiwa Ultima Powers for the Tag belts. Stacked.

Daimonji So vs Takanori Ito has the chance to be my favourite match I watch next week.

Also saw Ash mention on twitter that Judgement isn't having any English commentary which is a shame, even if i'm listening to Murata in Japanese most of the time I like having the option to hear Ciari or Arai translating the promos in real time

Looks like All Japan cut Yoshie's final match from the VOD of the Gunma show

(Also the show is very unremarkable anyway, I'd recommend not bothering unless you want to see FUMA to shoot Yuma Aoyagi with a hunting rifle)

Also I keep thinking how great DOUKI Vs MUSASHI sounds and I really wish I knew if it'll be uploaded to WU or not so I can stop thinking about it or not. Same with the Sendai Girls show. I've seen 0 Sendai Girls this year, their YouTube uploads are still in November last year. If Wrestle Universe lets me see Sendai Girls on just 1 month delay I'd be happy

Watching the GLEAT show from during the week and the crowd is depressing, below 600 in Korakuen. And honestly looks less. GLEAT are going to have to start curtaining off one side of the building like a lot of the Joshi groups so when they run there.

Opening match had a fun guys being dudes moment post-match, Kuma Arashi & Quiet Storm starting shoulder charging each other several times and then shook hands.

They brought Jordan Oliver over as he seems as sloppy as the last time I saw him. He reminds me of the sort of guys you'd see on early 2000s indy shows, guys just trying poo poo beyond their ability or talent. Combine that with him being exceedingly lacking in personality and charisma and I do not know why you would pay to fly him halfway across the world.

Back half of the card had some good stuff though, especially the main event.

NOAH having to change tomorrow's main event because Kaito Kiyomiya is hurt. They expect him back on the 31st Korakuen Hall show though so it's probably not serious (Google translate is saying "spinal cord shaking" which I have no idea what that means. DeepL says spinal cord concussion which at least seems to be a real thing & basically is whiplash afaict)

I was just confirming the date of the next Triple Crown match (30th March) & loaded up the All Japan website to see that at some point they had decided to add Rei Saito & Davey Boy Smith Jr to the Champion Carnival. DBS is in A Block, Rei in B Block, as is Jun! So that'll be fun. Now it's 2 blocks of 8, rather than 2 of 7.

Well, this has to be one of the quietest weeks since I started doing these schedules. Nothing from NJPW, AJPW, NOAH, TJPW, nothing live from Dragongate, although I did just see that there's the Hard Hit Indie Junior Festival, so I've added that in. Shuji Ishikawa vs Towa Iwasaki on the Evolution show sounds fun. And the daughter vs mother title match in Ice Ribbon should be good. Ummmm. Yukimitsu Takahashi is a former kickboxer making his wrestling debut on the Hard Hit show, he's down as being from the Ibushi Pro-Wrestling Research Institute, so he might be an Ibushi trainee? But then Kaji Tomato is also from there & he's definitely not? I don't know man, the way of Ibushi is impossible to comprehend. But that's it. Feeling good I've got a backlog now because there is not a lot to watch next week.

FREEDOMS debuted a new rookie today, Hiromu Nakamura, who was inspired to become a wrestler after watching the Jun Kasai Crazy Monkey movie that came out a few years ago. His first match was against the company president (& deathmatch legend in his own right, matches he had in the late 2000s were dope) Takashi Sasaki

Smile. Win. Yay!

Attendances from the first three months this year compared to last, it's encouraging that DDT and All Japan are growing back and NOAH looks like they fell off a cliff since 2023 had the Mutoh show. Stardom seems to have dropped a bit as well but I can't really speak as to why

For reference, it's ordered:

New Japan
NOAH
Stardom
All Japan
DDT

GAME PLANS? We don't need no stinking game plans.

Stardom has picked up a bit of momentum in the past month or so. The Cindy was up on last year but more importantly up year to year in the common venues. Essentially they had a shocking run post the 5 star final but are turning the corner now. Young Okada has done a good job I'd say with the promotion in the early days in his leadership

The Cindy was well booked if not comically built around one wrestler. I think they will bounce back over the year. There are always ups and downs for the not njpw promotions

Honestly, I'm not surprised. While NOAH can be relied on for a banger match at their shows, they're also defined by frustrating, nonsensical and self-destructive booking decisions.

Sounds awfully familiar. Maybe it's time they change their name to Total Noah Action.
