This guy has since thrashed most of the FXT drivetrain, rebuild it and is now in the 11s. http://videos.streetfire.net/search/gto/6/c168377c-bef4-4761-b379-9846000bdfd5.htm

This is a stupid ploy to get attention, though. What could Porsche possibly have to gain by engaging in this? If they win, big deal, a Porsche beat a Mini. If they, in some twisted fashion, lose, they lost to a Mini. No gain anywhere.

I was wondering why the driver didn't just raise the height of the front suspension to clear the obstacle... the smoke/vapor/whatever release that you can see in this angle makes it look like that wee small bump took out the pneumatic/hydraulic/whatever front suspension. That's the best that the ol' USA can do?

This is a silly argument and a GT500 having a live axle rear suspension is both a lazy engineering and a cost engineering failure.

Keep in mind, this is NYPD, which is especially proud of their "Stop and Frisk" program, where they literally stop people and frisk them with 9 out of 10 stops resulting in no problems found. To actually do something that stupid, not in front of but TO an NYPD officer? He's lucky that is all he got. The cop stepped in front of the car to be an obvious impediment to the driver, who was a complete rear end in a top hat. drat, it's a sad day when I'm even remotely on NYPD's side. I wonder what the bodywork cost will be on the Ferrari, I saw the scratches on the rear quarter at the end of the video, I'd have to think there's at least paint transfer and possibly dented metal where the door hit the cab.

How does that usually go? I'd imagine if he's aquitted of the charge, he can sue them for the repair cost, otherwise I can't imagine he'll get anywhere. That repair is all on the car owner. There's no claim against the city/PD. Lesson? Don't be a dick about a $125 ticket when you're driving an expensive car. And the police are actively writing a ticket. And people are filming.
