If a woman hasn't had sex in a long while and then becomes sexually active again, could this cause cramping and possibly an earlier than normal period? I'm 14 days from my period (52 day cycle) and I'm getting some cramping, painful breasts and I've been moody as if I have PMS. I really hope I'm not pregnant as I just started seeing this guy about 2 months ago and only became sexually active with him about 2 weeks ago. I'm hoping my period is just going to arrive early.

Thank you. I'm really hoping its triggered my hormones to act up and that's it. I love children and want them very much, but not with someone I barely know.

Thank you so much! You've really put my mind at ease. I have a prescription for birth control, but I didn't get it filled because I wasn't sexually active. Now that I am, once I get my period (hopefully) I'll be starting back up on the pill. I'm going to test in a week. If the cramps are implantation associated, then from what I'm reading in a week I should be able to test.

Well I woke up with much worse cramps that are like menstrual cramps. Since they aren't light like they were before, I think it's likely not pregnancy. Phew!

By some miracle I became pregnant unexpectedly. I have a hormone disorder that should have made it impossible to get pregnant without medical intervention so I'm completely unprepared for this. I'm very happy, but also a little scared since I wasn't expecting this. I feel like I have a million questions and don't even know where to begin. The one thing that's bothering me a lot is the lightheadedness. Is it normal to be super super lightheaded all day at about 6/7 weeks? It's making it really tough for me to work...

I don't know about last lightheadedness specifically, but I pretty much came to the conclusion during my pregnancy that everything weird going on with your body is "normal". The only things that aren't explained away by "well, it's just a pregnancy thing" are the very specific things that your doctor will tell you to watch out for (*IANAD, please do not take this as actual medical advice. If something really truly feels wrong to you at a gut level, ask an actual professional about it) Thank you! I tried calling the nurses number today about 10 times and I was not able to get through. My hormones have left me pretty impatient and crying at the drop of a hat, so I gave up on calling for advice. From what I'm reading it's normal? Roulette posted:Congrats! This is similar to my situation. I didn't think there was any way I could get pregnant (had multiple surgeries, was seeing a fertility specialist) and I was considering adoption over IVF and lo and behold I felt weird and realized I hadn't been spotting leading up to my period like usual and welp, super faint second line and cue me freaking out. That was back in March and I was a nervous wreck the entire first trimester. I was convinced it was a fluke and something bad would happen but I'm here at 26 weeks getting kicked in the cervix on a regular basis and trying to pick a middle name for my little dude. Thank you! I'm also feeling like something must be wrong. I'm worried because I feel like it's too good to be true almost.

I'm having really bad neck stiffness and pain. No other symptoms so I don't think it's meningitis. I usually use tiger balm patches, but I was reading the camphor in tiger balm is bad for the baby. Can anyone recommend anything for the pain?

BadSamaritan posted:Clarks tend to be good for support, and have wides available in some styles if swelling has been a problem for you. 6pm has good sales on them. Rockport, Ecco, and sometimes Naturalizer have good support, but wading through styles for these brands can be hit or miss, depending how stylish you have to look. Thank you! I’ll check those brands out. I can’t do heels anymore for work. My body thinks I’m 6 months pregnant even though I’m 3 mos.

Did anyone else have issues with not being able to eat much during pregnancy? I get full so quickly and then I don’t want to eat other meals because I’m still too full. Does that change later in pregnancy? I’m 16 weeks now and it’s been going on for probably 8 weeks now.

boquiabierta posted:Looking for advice on whether I should find out the baby's sex. That’s a tough and very personal choice. I can tell you that I really really wanted a boy. We did the blood test to test for abnormalities which also will tell you gender. I found out we were having a little girl. The excitement FAR outweighed any disappointment, and I’ve been able to get used to the idea of having a little girl. For me, finding out and processing what that means worked out really well. In the end, it’s your choice, BUT be prepared for someone accidentally telling you the sex at the ultrasound or doctor’s office. I’ve heard a few stories about couples who didn’t want to know who were accidentally told.

How do/did you all deal with hip pain while sleeping? I got a pregnancy pillow and use a second pillow between my legs in conjunction with it. I still toss and turn all night. The lack of sleep is making me really irritable and emotional.

boquiabierta posted:Had my 20 week scan yesterday which was not entirely reassuring. Sprog (our fetal nickname) has two secondary markers for trisomies: an echogenic (calcified) spot in the heart and some dilation of the renal vessels/accumulation of urine in the kidneys. Haven't looked this stuff up, don't particularly want to. The doctor said neither marker on its own would be cause for concern, but the two together constitute an increased risk, so they recalculated my risk for Down's and other trisomies. In the first trimester my risk was 1 in over 3000, now it's 1 in 419. Still low risk but I'm kind of freaked out by how much it changed. We're considering the chromosomal analysis screening bloodwork, although I'm concerned about the rate of false positives and if I would feel pressured into getting an amnio based on the results. Anyone have experience with the chromosomal analysis? What kind of results do you get? If it's just going to tell us "your risk is actually 1 in 800" or whatever I don't know if it's worth it, but if it'll be more definitive (and if the false positives are relatively rare) then I think we should do it for peace of mind. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I can imagine it’s difficult deciding what you want to know/do at this point. My husband and I opted for the genetic testing before the anatomy scan. Everything came back great. When we had the scan, there was an echogenic focus. I was upset and didn’t understand the results since the genetic testing came back fine. Since there was only that one marker and everything else was normal, my doctor was not concerned. I spoke with a friend who is the head sonographer at her hospital about it. She told me it’s very common with Asian populations (my husband is Chinese). Not sure if this is a factor for you. I was very happy we had the genetic testing done. Had we not, I probably would have been more freaked out.

I can’t quite tell exactly what she’s doing yet, but I’m almost 26 weeks. I can tell when she’s either kicking or punching, but can’t distinguish between the two. I can tell when she’s rolling around, though. I’m guessing (?) you can tell better what exactly they’re up to later in pregnancy.

I haven’t had the same issue, but, my hip pain started back up around the same time, which I know is related to the body prepping for birth. My stomach is absolutely hosed today. I’ve also had low back pain and a bit of cramping recently. 34 weeks now. Guessing my body is prepping for the baby. It’s not any fun, though.

37 weeks tomorrow. Experiencing cramping and back pain consistently, so nothing to time. Doctor has me resting and waiting to see if there will be any increase in pain, and timetable contractions. Wondering if the baby will make an early appearance. Last Wednesday I was 1cm dilated, 50% effaced and baby was at -1.

take me to the beaver posted:There's a nice probability density interactive widget of the likelihood of spontaneous labor by your due date, if this makes you feel any better. When I was at the end of pregnancy I would not only reassure myself with it, but also reply to meeting invites with the probability that I could attend given the invite date because I am a completely insufferable nerd (and I ended up having a scheduled C-section anyway). That’s actually a really cool tool. Thanks for sharing it!
