I have an app identification request to make. There was an app I came across some time ago that replaced the PIN-code keypad with a 3x4 grid of dots that you would connect by drawing/swiping instead of pressing individual # keys. I can't recall the name or repo it may have been on and my google-fu is failing me. Any help? *edit* I'm assuming it's a winterboard thing which is why I posted here instead of the usual app thread. *edit2* It's always when you give up to ask that your brain catches a hint. Android Lock is the answer! (Android Lock XT lets you skin it) Zigmidge fucked around with this message at 22:29 on May 23, 2011 |

I guess the only part one could have any difficulty is getting their device into dfu mode.... There was once a time when you could visit a website, swipe, and have a jail broken device just like that. I miss that.

I jail broke my iPad 3 last night without a hitch. It was brain dead simple, those who hosed it up either don't get it or don't read instructions. Anyways, chastising aside, everything has been smooth but my settings icon turns into a blank white icon every now and then. It's pretty inconsistent and will fix (or unfix) itself at random. That tells me that it's a problem you should probably just suck it up and get over. Based on what I've read surrounding the issue on others sites, it doesn't seem like its worth the headache trying to fix.

I think it's perfect for those lazy consuming sessions. The new ipad has pretty much replaced my PC altogether (unless I'm gaming, which is rare now) and Quasar lets me be a lazy multitasker. Streaming video, kairosoft games (fullscreening kairosoft games is a sin, you just sit there half the time!) and the forums/facebook at the same time whilst laying on my back covered in greasy crumbs and half-eaten cheeto bags. Sometimes life is good and Quasar helps me get there. e: It's definitely not something I leave on all the time though. ^^ Is absolutely right about the problems it has. While I think Apple's way is good enough, splitting it somewhat like how Metro does it on Windows 8 would be kinda cool for certain tasks. What's to show? It's just like using Windows. I don't try to maximize my space, there's always wasted real-estate. There's lots of overlap (I watch a lot of re-run TV so it's not like I need the whole video frame showing) and I'll always hit fullscreen before typing in any app. It's an iPad, I don't try to do any kind of power computing on it so the quirks it has never bothers me. For a practical feature anyone can make good use of is downloading files. Even the new iPad will shut down a download in the background after long enough. With Quasar you can just shrink the window and do something else instead of sitting there watching Safari or Cydia download something. I think it was worth it and it can only get better as the author works on it.

There are macbooks and ipod cables littering every apple store I've been to. If someone gives you crap, sit down and commandeer one of the computers and wipe your device. Anecdotal obviously but you kind of have to be braindead to mention that you have a jailbreak to official reps if you're coming to them with a problem.

This isn't unusually long, plus there are already tethered hacks out for pre A5x devices. Besides a broken map and ones iPenis size there's not much to get me excited about iOS 6. For my iPad I'd much rather have windows (Quasar) than siri. What killer features does everyone else really want that they can't wait to ditch 5.1.1? vv derp. You're right! Netflix + Chrome + Splashtop + IMO + Wireless Mouse gives me a touch-enabled gaming rig in a trendy tablet format. I'm the biggest fan! iOS is nice and I can see where Apple was going with it but one app at a time is pretty stupid at the end of the day. Quasar doesn't work on iOS 6, however. It also costs money. Also because of how (poorly) iOS manages memory based on keeping one app open at a time you might not be able to run more than two or three things on older iPads. Also it hasn't been updated since mid-2012. To most people it just won't be worth it. Evaluate how strongly you feel about multi-tasking before you drop 10$ on it.

Ah I didn't mean to seem unsympathetic. Just wanted to throw in my Activator two cents while it was still the topic. I like to follow Xeno's posts because his jailbreak experience seems to be completely opposite mine. The only trouble I've ever had that wasn't fixed with a simple respring is Quasar's weirdness causing apps to crash on me but that's something I deemed acceptable before I went for it.

I asked in the general apps thread but it might be better suited to here. I'd like to be able to use my idevice as a wireless network file storage for small files that I use daily between machines that aren't specifically mine namely regular texts and my keepass file. I already carry around my idevices to these same places so I'd rather not have to carry around a usb key as well. Is there an app that can masquerade as a network place that I can access through windows explorer? This would let me automate a few things rather than manually launch and access a wifi web server that so many of these file management apps do on top of an extra layer of security (You need my idevice as well as the master password to access keepass). I already use Dropbox for work but can't leave my keepass file there, not to mention needing to remember to sync it every single time I use it is more trouble than dropbox is worth (I really hate how dropbox is crippled by apple's sandbox philosophy). tldr: I'd like to set keepass to point to a local network directory share to access the master file that is on my idevice when I'm on the local wifi network. I need an app that can share my idevice that Windows and macs can see as another network location.

If you use Quasar , killing daemons to free up ram helps. Everything is always running at once and it pretty much breaks apple's memory prioritizing anyways (which is fine, I think it could use a lot of work) so you might as well do so to prevent apps you're actually currently using from shutting down just because Jobs' suspended soul thinks you weren't using it.

If Apple never includes swipeselection I'm never buying an iPhone and my iPad will probably never leave ios 6. It's the smallest tweak yet, to me, the hugest blunder on apple's part. I get it that they want to make it as close to handling real paper as possible with all the digital conveniences but nowhere in life are you trying to tap your fat human finger between two font size 12 characters. Don't get me started on the zoom bubble, either. Anyways, I doubt the scene or community is dead. People are just waiting for the next big hack. What are end-users and tweak programmers supposed to do while the jailbreakers keep their secrets to themselves?

Two questions, one, is there a tweak that can enable/disable features like swipe-up for CC panel based on which application is open? I don't want to remove it entirely but I hate how it pops up and steals focus when I'm trying to write in Notability with the palm-guard up. The other question is about the system font. What was the tweak to change the universal system font and what was the name of that slim typeface that the old jailbreak thread loved?

spongeworthy posted:Cloaky So it turns out this doesn't do what I want it to. It's a great utility for customizing what's within CC but it doesn't affect the CC panel behaviour. What ended up working for me was turning off 'CC while in apps' in settings.app altogether and using Activator to access it instead. Then I can just blacklist Notability from Activator functions and presto, exactly what I wanted. Now I can rest my palm and wrist on the bezel and palm guard and not worry about CC popping up anytime I put the stylus down to the screen.
