Do you guys ever talk about Slam Death Metal like Analepsy and Abominable Putridity here or should I just stay my narrow-minded rear end in the -Core thread?

ultraviolence123 posted:Give me some grunting Jabba-the-Hutt toilet vocals, minute long horror / sci-fi samples, caveman guitar slams and snares that sound like an empty Pringles can and I'm happy. I already knew that the tough-guy hardcore I grew up listening to wasn't "good music" and didn't care, but only since getting more into slam have I been able to evaluate it as similar to enjoying horror films. They both only really seem to exist to fulfill a singular purpose and are extremely niche, but something about the aesthetic of it all appeals to me greatly. Kinda bummed a lot of these albums don't have vinyl releases. Buying compact discs feels so passé. Stoked for vinyl to arrive from the bands I mentioned originally. It's super fun knowing you have music on physical media coming overseas from Russia and Portugal.

I saw Ingested last night and couldn't dance how I wanted because all your big fat drunk bros were stomping around in a circle like assholes. One insanely drunk dude was just falling all over everyone, but it didn't matter because that's what everyone else was doing too. Weakest horse poo poo I've ever seen. Learn some coordination.

Thanks thread! FOH started out really cool and then put out a bunch of bullshit noise tracks/albums that were unlistenable. i cautiously checked out this new album and was surprised that it contained actual songs, but i'm still way over them at this point, unfortunately.

i don't usually listen to poo poo like... whatever this is... but was put onto this and it's fantastic it's like black metal (which i don't like) and doom metal (which i don't like) and metalcore (which i unashamedly love) and the combination is awesome https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dp2CcgMPFNI https://rorcal.bandcamp.com/

Once I started going to abc and seeing Born Against, Rorschach, and playing shows w Dropdead and poo poo like that I couldnt look back to meathead mosh. I think I saw too many dudes get stomped out in the street for that. you def have cred over me. i started going to shows in queens (castle heights, redzone) in the late 90s that was essentially the epicenter of dudes in grey sweatpants, yankees hats, gold chains, and tons of spinning roundhouse kicks. of all my years going to shows in new york, i've not once been to abc no rio. makes sense now

punk and metal (etc) take the absurdity of the real world and reflect it back to us in a spectacularly theatric way. they may be influenced by serious topics we're all well aware of (greed, death, remorse, political unrest) but at the end of the day its still kids and/or grown men yelling and spitting at a microphone wearing eyeliner or spikes or whatever. its theater, and im a very pleased audience member e: because i'm just as hypocritical as everyone else in the world, i say all of the above fully aware that i got into metal watching marilyn manson rip out bible pages at the VMAs and my dumb little brain was so blown you'd think it removed one of its ribs ShoogaSlim fucked around with this message at 18:17 on Jul 19, 2020 |
