Yeah it's taken some digesting for me but I'm coming around on it. I'm still not sure if it needs two 80s AOR songs, and the weird Devin Townsend sounding track really sticks out, but it's growing on me.

Also they released one more music video. This track is definitely a highlight on the album, imo.

For whatever reason I've never given Unleash the Archers a listen. That track scratched an itch I didn't know I had. What is their best album to get into?

It's a cliche to start a metal track with a sample, but it's a cliche I love. What's your favorite/the best one?

I'm a big fan of how corny the one is in "Inhuman" by Origin. "Anyone who isn't dead or from another plane of existence would do well to cover their ears... right about now!"

Even better that it's from Dogma of all things.

It's hopelessly overused, but "The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist" at the beginning of Funeral Inception is great.

Their new album, as Nordick mentioned, veers between influences a bit haphazardly, but it's still really good. Their previous album (Apex) is also very good, and more consistent in style. Don't ask me which one of them I like better; I still want to give Abyss some time to digest.

That track is pretty much exactly what you'd expect a power metal song named "Faster than Light" to sound like.

I'll second what Incoherence said about Apex and Abyss, and also add that Time Stands Still from 2015 is also excellent. It's also probably the easiest one to get into if you just want some high energy melodic metal fun. Plenty of catchy-rear end tunes on that one.

This was the song that introduced me to them, and it's still one of my favourites.

I'm making a playlist for my D&D group who are going to invade Hell and fight some devils. I'm trying to keep it accessible so I haven't gone any heavier than Vader covering Judas Priest - Rapid Fire.

What's some power metal in the right direction for killing devils in the outermost wastelands of Hell?

Hell yeah - I really dig Obscura/Alkaloid's stuff and this has just made me load up on his solo stuff and all his other projects. Always have time for more wanky tech death.

Probably, my pin showed up like that and all the descriptions say the same thing like “yes that’s who you think it is”. They usually put an image up for a few days or have it show up like third in an Instagram post you have to swipe through. I’d just shoot em a pm.

Also :rip: power trip guy, it wasn’t totally my jam but I saw them once and they put on a great show.

Absolutely heartbreaking poo poo. We’ve lost a lot of musicians that I love in recent years but this is the first I can recall dying in their prime. Amazing live band and one of my favorite metal bands of the last decade in general. There are so many stories about what a good dude Riley was going around. Bands like them are why I go to shows and why it’s been so tough to go without live music this year.
