I love Loudness so much. They are probably my favorite Japanese metal band after Anthem. Anthem are the metal gods of Japan. Bound to Break is an excellent album, total Judas Priest worship of the highest order.

Nearly everything I liked this year was slam or brutal death and as much as I enjoyed it, I can't in good conscience pretend that it's not mostly the same.

Hook me up with your list. Slam / Brutal Death was pretty much all I listened to this year as well, and I always like to compare lists with others, see if I missed out on anything cool.

did they just stop making slam records in 2021

Like, I can't think of any that were released this year

All of these are slam records, so the covers are wildly not safe for work. You've been warned.

Traumatic Insemination - Dissevering the Yuppy Scum with Psychotic Precision
https://inheritedsufferingrecords.bandcamp.com/album/traumatic-insemination-dissevering-the-yuppy-scum-with-psychotic-precision
This one is my current fav slam record of 2022. Inspired use of Seinfeld samples.

Awaken the Misogynist - Descended from Vast Dimensions
https://comatosemusic.bandcamp.com/album/descended-from-vast-dimensions
Killer international slam / brutal death

.357 Homicide - Amusement Through Supreme Exsanguination
https://realityfade.bandcamp.com/album/homicidal-amusement-through-supreme-exsanguination
Nice follow-up to their first album. Needs the wind chime cymbals from the first record though

The Dark Prison Massacre - Triple Insanity
https://amputatedveinrecords.bandcamp.com/album/triple-insanity
TDPM always deliver high quality bizarre slam.

Vile Impregnation - Slave
https://realityfade.bandcamp.com/album/slave
Evil pounding slam from Texas.

Gutrectomy - Manifestation of Human Suffering
https://amputatedveinrecords.bandcamp.com/album/manifestation-of-human-suffering
Deathcore / slam mix, rules

Grieve - Pit of Despair
https://sevared.bandcamp.com/album/pit-of-despair
The snare on this record haunts my dreams

Vaginal Addiction - Indulging in Barbarism
https://sevared.bandcamp.com/album/indulging-in-barbarism
More brutal death than slam but still owns

Fatuous Rump - Perceptions of the Dark Ornaments
https://laceratedenemyrecords.bandcamp.com/album/fatuous-rump-perceptions-of-the-dark-ornaments
This came out at the end of 2021, but it is a fantastic bouncy slam record. Anything with Larry Wang is worth listening to.

Diphenylchloroarsine - Subterranean Existential Warfare
https://rottenmusic.bandcamp.com/album/subterranean-existential-warfare
This came out in '21, but didn't get enough love from the slam community. Extremely good and highly recommended.

I pretty much only listen to slam / brutal death, so if there's interest I could post more.

Also, PeelingFlesh put out a comp of all their songs released so far. Cover art is not work safe.

Some new stuff that is good.

Gorepot - How Much is a Gram Over There?
https://brutalmind.bandcamp.com/album/how-much-is-a-gram-over-there
Sophisticated Slam, with no fart samples.

Stabbing - Extirpated Mortal Process
https://comatosemusic.bandcamp.com/album/extirpated-mortal-process
This isn't officially out yet (comes out tomorrow), but my CD showed up today and it's extremely good. Absolutely crushing death metal, will definitely be in my top 10 this year.

Ecchymosis - Psychopathic Concupiscence Towards Homicidal Lacerations
https://ecchymosis.bandcamp.com/album/psychopathic-concupiscence-towards-homicidal-lacerations
Absolutely diseased death metal from Thailand. So gloriously sloppy.

Crypt Rot - An Ancient Summoning
https://drycough.bandcamp.com/album/an-ancient-summoning
Brutal death metal. Took a couple of spins but I really like this one now.

Iniquitous Monolith - Sledgehammered
https://amputatedveinrecords.bandcamp.com/album/sledgehammered
Sample-heavy ultra brutal death metal.

New 7h. Target isn't very good. The artwork is great and album concept is interesting, but the music is just an unfocused cluster of noise and the whole thing becomes very tiresome to listen to. First major music disappointment of '23.

New Torsofuck.

https://morbidgenerationrecords.bandcamp.com/album/torsofuck-postpartum-exstasy

I probably could have done without track #2 being 80% the trailer to Dr. Jekyll's Dungeon of Death but the rest of this disc is absolutely high quality extremely putrid slamming GoreGrind. Worth the 19 year wait between albums.

Obviously love Reign in Blood but IMO Hell Awaits is Slayer's best record. Kill Again is my favorite Slayer song, it just tears through (slays) everything in it path.

You get a ton of top quality brutal death for this price. The releases for Nithing, Gorgasm, Infertile Surrogacy and Ecchymosis alone are worth it. The Asian Pathological Vomit Gorepremacy split is also really good if you like later Last Days of Humanity-type blasting goregrind. My wife had tinnitus that comes and goes and there are days when she's in absolute agony with the noise. I feel bad, because there's very little that can be done. What I'm saying is, wear earplugs. You can get good ones online that feel comfortable and will allow you to hear the music without destroying your hearing. No one is going to judge if you have them in. If for some reason they do, they're dickhead assholes and can gently caress off forever.

I bought the new Dokken CD. I love Dokken, have their complete discography, including Breaking the Chains when it was released under Don Dokken before Elektra remixed / reissued it (this is a bootleg CD, an awesome bootleg). Back for the Attack is their best record. Give that one a listen if you're unfamiliar with Dokken. Kiss of Death and Night by Night are my favorites from that album. I'm gonna be rockin' with Dokken this weekend.

I also bought the new Autopsy, finally picked up Crypta's second disc, and my New Standard Elite order with Infibulated and Internal Suffering showed up in the USPS. I loving love metal.
