A while back I started listening to UYD at episode 1, and the other day I got to 139, where Jonathan is drinking an alcoholic beverage he called an “Old Knob Slob.” This is where you drink about a quarter of an Olde English 40 and then pour in a Bartles & James strawberry daiquiri. I love lovely alcohol, so by the end of the episode I knew I'd have to give it a go (and somehow I didn't even know wine coolers were still a thing. I always associated them with middle aged women in like 1993). Anyhow, I'm having one now and it's crazy wrong, but awesome. If you spent your formative years in punk houses getting shitrocked on the cheapest booze that probably helps. 139 is also the episode that birthed Schneer and Letern, which is one of the best moments.

I'd never seen TCAP before but after the UYD segments I looked up a ton of them on youtube and felt like I was probably put on some kind of government watch list. The cat episode was so unbelievable that I told someone about it irl and they were like, "why the gently caress were you watching some kind of bestiality pede show? Are you cool?" No. No I'm not.

Now that I'm caught up with the back catalog and listening to new eps as they happen, there's something weird that I have to ask about. On the RSS feed it says the latest one was posted on April 4th, but it only showed up for me today, and I've been regularly checking for a new one. Same with the update on the website, that also only just showed up for me. This happens every time a new one comes out. Is this normal or do I exist in some UYD time hole? Man, 416 was a weak ep. The show starts to lose my attention whenever Jonathan goes off on rambling tangents, and this devolved into that hardcore. Like, sure dude, I totally get you about big companies and cellphones and whatever else, but hearing you go off is dead not funny.

I don't know the specifics but there is an issue where the sheer amount of UYD reached critical mass and the entirety could no longer be contained on itunes. Jonathan mentioned wanting to sort it out, but that was a while ago and, y'know, Jonathan. Ahaha I just happened to relisten to that ep like the day before yesterday; it's 423 during the craigslist segment and starts around 9:35, I just checked. I remember it clearly because it made me crack the gently caress up walking down the street. Man I wish they were more consistent with listing song names. I tried everything to figure out the outro to 394, but never had any luck (the intro song is totally labeled though, fantastic). if anyone's curious about a track you can always try posting here with a description, but I dunno how many people go out of their way to seek a specific point in a podcast they don't listen to re: 449 I can't tell you, but whoever it is has listened to a shitload of Slowdive

Pieces that were left out of shows for being too long probably should have stayed that way, or at least have been limited to one per episode. 469 was "Seth just reads a bunch of poo poo for an hour" so the natural funny banter that makes the show work didn't have a chance to take off and the show just dragged.
