Case in point, Abgeordnetenwatch.de has a thing where you can compare statements with your direct candidates, and they're along the lines of "the police should have access to your saved internet connection data." Big surprise, every candidate replies negatively to that because they know replying positively would look bad, but when you read their responses they still cover everything from "only to help investigations in a crime" to "that shouldn't be saved in the first place." Works more or less the same with the other statements they had.

You gotta wonder what general state a country is in if the best government it can realistically hope for is the one that occasionally fails to do the stupidest poo poo imaginable. CDU upper echelons have to be secretly hoping that the FDP doesn't make it because then they can form a coalition with the SPD who have proven themselves time and time again to be complete pushovers who believe that saying "this is a really bad law and we don't like it at all" really clearly but supporting it unanimously carries exactly the same weight as voting against the drat thing.

Probably both. Bruno Kramm is pretty big on either as I recall. Having a professional musician who's outspoken against the current state of the industry and has in fact sued GEMA front and center of your party image is probably a really good idea if you're the Pirates. Sure they'd garner more votes with it if it was Herbert Grönemeyer or Wolfgang

One is the chancellor of Germany accepting illegal donations and refusing to disclose the donators and the his party keeping secret bank accounts. The other is a small party adopting a position of sexual liberty that should have been highly morally questionable even then, then abandoning that position and distancing themselves from it long before they even got voted into the federal government. The CDU was a long established governing party, the Greens were in their formative years, had been around as a political party for all of one year and would remain in the opposition for 18 years if they got into parliament at all. It really kind of is a bigger deal.

I really think the AfD getting so many votes is a temporary thing. If the election had been a year ago we'd have the Pirates in parliament with 10%, more than either Grüne or Linke now.

Actually there have been reports that fishing boats specifically avoided helping those refugees because there are laws under which they could have been fined for assisting illegal immigrants.

I just spent a very instructive five minutes learning the subtle difference between progressive downloading and streaming. Will go on redtube to see if I can figure out which they use ASAP, which I'm sure will be extremely instructive as well. This argument isn't exactly short on spots to crack it wide open but there's another.

Some interesting stuff is coming to light. There's a service that's commonly used on free porn sites that redirects links. You click on a thumbnail, you get redirected to a whole other site. It's possible to include geolocalization in the service so users from a defined area get redirected to a particular site. Apparently people who got a C&D noticed in their histories that around the time they supposedly got on redtube, there was an access logged to the redirecting service, which redirected to, for example, 49655.movfile.net. Another redirect from there led to 49655.retdube.net, and there was a further redirect there to actual redtube. movfile and retdube were registered two days before the earliest date mentioned in the C&Ds, and the number is the redtube ID of the movies mentioned in the C&D. The speculation is that the domains belong to The Archive and that they deliberately had a few thousand German IPs redirected to their own redirector pages and logged the IPs from there before sending them on to redtube. The old line about a paranoid being just someone who has all the facts springs to mind.

e X posted:I can already see the argument unfold, with the CDU insisting on the letter and the SPD on the spirit of the coalition agreement. Not that it matters much because the CDU will just go ahead with a new initiative and the SPD will keep insisting they really don't want to do it, no seriously, right until the second they unanimously vote in favour of it.

That's exactly the kind of thing the AfD like to howl about as well, almost more so than the upfront Nazis. That "Sharia zone" bollocks is exactly the kind of rhetoric you see when those call out a national befreite Zone, too.

Nah, apparently a 17-year-old tweeted about how school didn't teach life skills, i.e. she had no idea about how "tax, rent or insurance" worked but could write poetry analysis in four languages. And because there's nothing Germans love more than to talk about whether their education system is efficient enough I guess people are running with it? I mean, it's a fair point and life skills should be a part of the curriculum, on the other hand it was a common complaint 15 years ago when I was at school and turns out doing your tax and paying your rent is actually pretty easy!
