I don't hate it.
I haven't seen Casino in a really long time, but I don't remember it being "Suit Model: The Movie". It's not terrible, but it doesn't really do anything to show what the movie is about, just like every other minimalist fan poster.

Wow, that Nurse 3D poster is pretty drat impressive.
I dunno, I'm sure it gets the point across well enough, but it's pretty low effort. "This movie is probably going to bomb, so let's put a hot naked chick on the poster and we're guaranteed a decent opening weekend at least!" I don't like it.

I don't think they shouldn't do it, but it's not really a hypersensitivity thing, or at least not a faked one. It's sort of physically painful on a gut level to see that kind of imagery. Very effective for what they're doing and I don't hold it against them, but at least on my end it throws me immediately right back to 2001.

Do all images of people in front of national monuments give you this feeling, or is it just because of the text?

I thought those posters were really tastefully done. I don't necessarily think they're great movie posters, but they're certainly not bad, and apart from the ominous text (which would be ominous in front of any image of people doing things), I didn't find anything offensive or disquieting about them. Definitely better than the "OMG NOT THE WHITE HOUSE" theme of Olympus Has Fallen.

Exactly. The minute you add a paper texture or a gradient to your minimalist poster, it stops being minimalist. People spend too much time making it look like it's something somebody crinkled up and threw away and not enough time coming up with meaningful symbolic representations of the film.

I love how this poster totally gives away the entire plot of the movie.

Maybe it's just because Kristen Bell is super dreamy, but I really like this. Tells you nothing about the movie other than "Kristen Bell is a troubled NYC journalist in her 30's who retreats to her hometown, the last place she was truly happy, and enters into an affair with a 16 year old boy." That's really all you need to put on a poster, though.

Given her track record in movies, though, it'll probably be terrible.

Still, :allears:
