Oh man, just reading this thread makes me nostalgic for RvR. It is so hard to resist! I had a RR8 Bard on one of the old classic servers but I can't even remember any of the account information... EA Support was not a very big help either. But from the sounds of it you can get 1-50 in no time and I always did want to try a Druid.

Have any of you expeirenced/managed to fix the "camera shaking" issue that I seem to always get when I try to return to DAOC? The last two times I've tried I've been driven off because of this..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eajuRQpg0I&feature=related

This video demonstrates what I mean, when the camera is turned/panned at all, it "shakes" about and at high speeds this is A) severely distracting and B) causes headaches.

The weird part is that I've completely altered my system since the last time I played this game, and I still get this stupid issue that seemingly has no fix.

Having the same issue as this guy mentioned in the last thread, and it is driving me crazy. I can't seem to focus on anything but the way the camera jitters when I use mouselook. Is there a fix for this? Also, it only happens if my character is moving (autorunning, stick, whatever) and I attempt to mouselook/pan the camera.

Is it possible that your computer is having trouble rendering the fancy textures? Although I would honestly expect it to behave a little differently if that were the case.

Since their last big patch, Waffle and I have also seen more "screen tearing" than before, where the screen will just randomly split. Waffle sees it across his entire screen, whereas I only notice it on a single piece of geometry (like a hill).
No problems rendering any of the graphics - everything is smooth at 60+ fps on the highest settings. Also tried turning models to classic, turning off shadows, reflective water, and all sorts of combinations of the above. Still gets the jitters! I thought it was a mouse issue at first but it also happens if I pan the camera with the keyboard/turn with wasd. Unlike the video, it is not as bad and does not happen if my character is not moving... Only if I'm running.

wow, this gameeeee. If there is anyone out there reading the thread who wants to scratch that DAoC itch but is worried about not having a 50, or it being too dated, or having trouble getting started, don't even worry about it. It was a little overwhelming at first and took a while to get used to the controls coming straight from SWTOR but you get used to it really fast.

It is just as easy as everyone says to level - rolled a warden mid afternoonish and got into a BG exp group starting from 11 that was SO efficient and leveled with them all the way to 35 in a matter of ~3-4 hours, if that. Then did some nice 8v8 from 35-39, hit RR2, and had a blast. Didn't have to worry about gear or anything since bounty points are so easy to get and you can buy a new set of gear every 5 levels.

Other nice perks include the fact that the game shits out black dye at you so you don't look like a poor unfashionable jerk, and teleporters EVERYWHERE. Everyone has also been super friendly and answering all of my questions even though I have maybe a billion.

Glitched into old frontiers earlier today and probably spent about an hour just running around and remembering speed7 zergs and good times in Emain. Took some screenshots as well!

Zone change from... Briefine to Emain? Don't remember which one we took this at. Guess they used a different kind of fertilizer.

Mindworm lake. Remember hiding here waiting for instant root and then killing albs only to die to the stupid worms. The camp bonus here was insane for this guy - like 90mil exp, ha.

Suiciding at mpk to end our field trip.

All of the mobs are still there - but different keeps are entirely empty and where the map indicates a relic village there is nothing. I forget which one this was (maybe scaith?) but it had guards and working gatekeepers, and at the top, a portal to DF. Unfortunately the portal didn't send us to old DF but oh well.

A high regrowth (44+ for best group hot, major, greater, and group heals) warden actually has a lot of tools for healing and if people run bard/druid/warden, the warden takes over most of the healing by playing back field with cure NS, cure group disease, and dropping while druid goes mid and shears/heals/roots etc. My warden is 49 nurt/44 reg/23 shield/10 blades. I barely ever, EVER hit things in PVP unless the druid or bard is getting beat on and then I can side snare or 5 sec stun.

With that said, the problem is getting people to actually give you a chance as a healing warden because most people want to run 2 druids since that how it has always been. I find warden a lot more fun than druid, but it is 100x easier to get a pug group as a druid. So probably just go druid.

I finished my warden's template in 2 days. Going from lv1-10 artis takes about an hour. The only thing really prohibitive about temping your characters is the money.

Buff bots are still around, but realm buffs do just fine.

Molvik is pretty terrible. For 35-37 you can usually do the Connla leveling hub if you haven't already done it (assuming you leveled 30-34 in Wilton). Usually I just punch myself in the dick over and over again and continually die in the BG until I get to 38-39 and level through RVR cause it's fun. Note that this works best on support classes that people actually want to group with

Also, ugh, my 14 free days died and continually getting "There was an error processing your request" when I try to sub. Bought a 1 month time card to see if it would be faster and no luck there. I JUST WANT TO SPEND MONEY ON MY TEMPLATESSSS and stare at the market explorer all day. ywain6 meath for lyfe

What's the best way to make money at 50? Glass groups + market? Or grinding mobs somewhere?

glass quests are mind-numbing but decent money. LGM SC can get away with 1-2p per piece which is crazy profit but does have the downside of having to actually skill up to craft and the money to go into it. It is hard to turn anything over on the CMs for profit like playing the AH in wow since the market interface is so bad. Certain items also sell well - like Zahur's Ring which you can get from turning in afrits that you get from glass quests. Also ROG rings with good stats (high amounts of toa bonuses) can be sold for 10-20p each although those take a while to sell on a CM.

mostly just do glass quests until your brain turns into mashed potatoes

Or is the server simply the server you log in through, but every server is connected to the same gameworld?

Which server should i pick to play with goons ?

Basically the only thing that matters when you pick Ywain# is what housing area you are going to get. Ywain1 is very full and the lots are expensive (if you can find a house that has been repossessed) whereas Ywain4, 6, and I think 9 are pretty empty. When not in housing, you are in the same shared area as everyone else.

Guild house is on Ywain6 so it makes it convenient to port to/from your house if you also pick 6

I picked the Stormlord path, and would like to focus on making my DoTs hit as hard as possible, so any knowledge you might have about what RA abilities are worth it in the current state of the game would be much appreciated. Even as a druid, finding a group in Hib is a pain in the rear end compared to any other of the realms. Having played Mid last time and Alb now, it really is night and day how non-elitist everyone is compared to Hib... which is unfortunate because it really is my favorite realm. :( If you go fully regrowth then the only time people end up wanting wardens is for BG; although I guess you could spec reg and grab BG as well, I just found perfecter to be the ML path more in sync with healing.

It's really dumb how hibs won't run 1 warden 1 druid like how albs run 1 friar 1 cleric. You get better resists, PBT, celerity, a shield peeler, TWF, pretty much all around better utility.

most hib groups are pretty caster heavy and if they bring anything tanky it is usually a hero or vamp in my experience, sometimes a champ. I misread your stuff and thought you were asking about being a heal warden, oops. Either spec, not the easiest to find groups on.

If you are going to do more than zerg surf then you will have to find a template for your character. Go to postcount.net and browse their forums to find one.

Depending on your class and spec you can expect to spend anywhere from ~50 plat or so to 400+. I templated out a skald and spent around ~180 plat to do it. Pricey items include seasonal items (Medal of Honor, Halloween Hats, Springtime Folly Bracers, etc) or things from Summoner's Hall / ML10. To keep it cheap, stick to items you can buy with dragon scales, artifacts, maybe a few pieces of the revamped epic gear, and crafted

Most of the alb population definitely is on during US hours and it tends to die out during euro hours. I usually see a japanese guild running their 8 man and maybe 1-2 other 8mans of either french or germans. Then of course, all the solos or whatnot that hang around bridges. There seems to be a lot of euro hibs (especially crau coast guard when realms are neutral). Mids disappear after US primetime.

dex seems low, as well as only 2 damage, less than 23 duration (23 is when you hit 12 sec for the stun). the power cap on your ROG is kind of a wasted slot. I really think you could get a way better belt than a cathal valley one as well. also, you have no astral legs / chest in your template so you wouldn't be able to keep the astral cloak on.

is the spell pierce 10/10? I see you have AT so that's at least 5.

25/25 heal bonus is something to shoot for as well.

my melee isn't great (although FSLS is awesome because the celerity procs so much and it helps a lot) but I rarely ever do that, relying on my shouts for most of my damage. This is very much a group oriented stealth template although I do solo a lot and do pretty well, but requires a lot of kiting and hoping that there is another alb somewhere around that will add onto my fight. With the 25 heal bonus, AM3 heals for ridiculous amounts and will save your duo / group if they are getting beat up. Requires you to swap to shield in stealth to cap and optimally swapping to harp for shouts/stun for increased duration and spell damage.

resists could be better and not 400 hits but it doesn't bother me personally

of course this template also has a ROG so it's not exactly copyable, but as long as you get something with at least 12% duration, some +stealth, and a high % of any resist, you should be set. the dex cap isn't super important on the ROG but I like having it 101 capped. another resist would be good on the slot, or anything really

unless you play during the dead of night (3-5am) US time, laby is usually full of groups. you'll find stealth groups roaming the hub and then 8 mans porting around wherever they see spam to wipe whatever is there. hibs especially seem to be drawn to laby since they've got vamps, although all the realms zerg there.

it can be really quick RP though, especially if you are a cleric / rej friar with all the ports. always see people in our alliance wanting healers for lab 8 mans.
