Made the drive to DC to pick up Dortmunder Gold today. The drive wasn't bad at all especially considering how close to rush hour it was (36 miles in 45 minutes with DC beltway and 270 involved is really good). $24 for 12 of them. Looking forward to trying it.

Retemnav posted:The local bottle shop has a shelf of 5-6 (or maybe more, I forget) different Weihenstephaner beers, guess I'm just gonna go buy one of each now. Hefe, Hefe-Dunkel, Vitus, Original, Korbinian, and uhhhh... Kristall most likely. I haven't had Korbinian yet because Ayinger Celebrator is on the same shelf and is sooo good.

Now Hefeweissbier. I've been trying to clone it and just can't quite nail it down. Guess I need a few hundred years to figure it out.

Midorka posted:I'm going to Baltimore in a few days. Planning to stop at State Line Liquors, DuClaw (Bel Aire), Brewer's Art, Max's and Of Love and Regret. The best thing is that I found out there's a bus that runs right to the inner harbor area outside of my hotel. No need to be conservative with my drinking now! Combine trip to DuClaw and State Line. Both off of 95 North/East. For bottle shops in MD, I kinda prefer Ye Old Spirt Shop in Frederick if you don't mind driving to the other side of the state. It's about the same distance from Baltimore as State Line. You could hit up Flying Dog while out there. I used to live about a mile from there and never bothered to tour. Silly me...

I was just in Alexandria, VA for work so I stopped by the Total Wine for more Breakfast Stout goodness. I go to checkout and notice this old couple with two bottles of Enjoy By. "Where did they find that?!" "Behind the counter if there's any left." And there was some left. 2 bottles. Hooray! But here's the fun part... as the old couple checks out, they ask "Is this beer or wine?"

There were no BCBS on display at State Line Liquors (they are making a list of reservations apparently), but the beer buyer dude was nice enough to hook me up with a 4 pack! I like to think my Stone jacket pushed them to help me out. Well that and only wanting to get a single pack and not something ridiculous. Anyway... just as incredible as I remember it. Gonna hold a bottle to age. Maybe get on that list for some more for more aging experiments (yeah right I'll drink them all.) Hopefully they'll get the coffee version as well. He said he knows they are getting the barleywine. On those lists now. He also said they haven't received any FW 17 or Velvet Merkin, but they should get that soon as well. On those lists. The place is a good hour away from me, but it is definitely worth the drive!
