I did moderately well just using WinEQ2 to 4 box. My team was two rogues, a shaman, and a warrior. It took a little time to get everything working smoothly, and I was horrible in moments of intense stress but it worked well enough. WinEQ2 lets you bind hotkeys to session windows, you can instantly switch to them from whatever it is you're doing on your computer.

I had my two rogues bound to Alt + F1 and Alt + F2, my shaman was Alt + F3 and my warrior was Alt + ~. The rogues were setup with macros to backstab 4 times in a row, so it was just a matter of positioning, pushing 2, and then taking care of the other characters. The shaman had a macro to slow, send the pet in, and cast his dots as well as a heal macro for those pulls that the cleric merc couldn't handle. While those guys were doing their automated thing, I focused on aggro generation with the warrior. Definitely didn't work as well as ISBoxer, but if you don't want to pay the fee, it's a decent free option for just loving around.

I did something very similar to you, but I used WinEQ2. I sometimes found myself frantically alt tabbing trying to get to the right character when things went screwy which tended to end in someone dying. WinEQ2 allows you to bind hotkeys to the session windows. I had Alt + F1 for my first rogue, Alt + F2 for my second rogue, Alt + F3 for my shaman, and Alt + ~ for my warrior. That's nice for quickly getting to your tank to pick up some lost aggro, or dropping a fast heal with the shaman.

If any of you Phinny goons are looking for a PST raiding guild, we're recruiting. West coast is the best coast!

We raid Monday/Tuesday/Thursday 8-12. Our website is out of date, but we're in the process of reclaiming it from the former guild leader who quit.

Have to echo this. I know people playing on Agnarr are looking forward to Velious, and play what you want in the end, but I have a feeling a lot of people aren't going to enjoy MOTM Kael, ToV, and Sleeper's Tomb.

There's a reason people on Phinigel tried to find ways to skip fighting some of the dragons for instance... Enjoy the million health dragon that spin stuns and DoTs you 10 seconds out of every 15 and its more or less impossible to resist. Or Vulak, who has 2.4 million and you have to dodge the slow AE every 60 seconds.

MOTM is the worst mechanic they've ever come up with, even beating out the scripts that made Vertigo in PoR a loving disaster. It doesn't make any of the fights harder, just intolerably long.

There was one raid night where we had a reduced raid force, I think we spent an hour and a half kill Vulak. I musta fallen asleep like 4 times during the fight. That was pretty much the catalyst for me quitting, lol.

I personally feel like the best thing about WoW was the solo game. I played a rogue when I played EverQuest back in the day, and I hated that I had to sit there asking for groups for an hour+ sometimes just to play the game in any capacity. I moved on over to WoW during the open beta and I was like OH MY GOD I CAN SOLO HOLY poo poo.

If by this you mean Everquest, then I agree. Even twelve years ago just about everyone who played hardcore was three or four boxing any time they wanted to actually go out and fight poo poo. Progression servers limit this to an extent but progression servers are also a clownshoe sideshow where people get to re-live the horrors of yesteryear.

If we're talking Everquest, especially live everquest, you can be extremely successful no matter how anti-social you are.

I did a brief 4 box stint on test after not having played since my rogue during LDON. I had so much fun being able to play without the assistance of others.

Re: wow, yeah it has definitely gotten antisocial but I was mostly okay with that since I was mostly playing during work with the exception of raid nights. World quests were awesome for filling the gaps in a slow work day.

Why would anybody ever pay $25 to race change when it doesn't modify your faction with the target race? I was going to race change my DE necro on Agnarr over to an Iksar to avoid all the faction work required to do the skullcap quest, but alas.

If it gets you friendly, but not high *enough* for that particular quest, just remember that Iksar is the master race and kurns is jokingly easy to farm bonechips in.

I'm pretty confused too, I'm going by what this GM said in my trouble ticket where I asked about it. Maybe he's just explaining it poorly or I'm stupid and I don't understand English very well?

I'd like to change my Necromancer to an Iksar using the race change scroll, but the scroll help page makes it sound like it won't modify my faction with Cabilis and that I'd be KOS. Can you confirm this?

Referencing this: The inhabitants of my new starting city hate me. How can I fix my faction?
A charming personality and a winning smile will only get you so far. If you really wish to earn the trust of your new kinsmen, you'll need to either impress them by slaying their enemies or run quests to improve your faction with them.

Greetings Traveler,
It is true that if you change your race you will manually have to raise your faction.

----------
Me-
And this also applies if you haven't gone out and intentionally damaged your faction with the one you want to change to? The scenario is this, I'm a Dark Elf Necromancer and I wanted to start the necro skull cap quest. I wanted to race change to Iksar so that I could avoid having to do all of the grinding to raise up my Cabilis faction. I have not gone and assaulted any Iksar or done anything that would damage my faction with them. So under these circumstances, if I change to Iksar and walk into Cabilis I will be killed on site until I can raise it up manually?
----------
Greetings Traveler,
Allow me to clarify further; whatever amount of faction you have when you use the race change scroll will be unaffected. So however the Iksar con to you now, is how they will con to you after the change. The help on the Site is more directed towards player who try to circumvent bad conning by race changing. Does this answer your question?

The -ONLY- faction issue I had was the Warrior guild in Neriak hates me, because I leveled in Crushbone (Indigo Brotherhood), which means I hosed myself on them (gently caress you, Guard Klan T'Jax). Everyone else was fine with me, and was previously KOS pre-race change.

Speaking of that game, what is the best way or prices for expansions to get back onto WoW as it now stands? I played it day of release and bought the Burning Crusade to get to level 60(?), but stopped playing when I got satellite internet because the connection was so bad.

I know things are different now but WoW players aren't known for their kindnesses. I still know my server and login info, so I could start at 60 (or more likely, level 1) but to be honest I'm tired of Phinny and want to have the options to solo if I can't play long. I only ask in here because many that started on EQ went to WoW and never left and are just as knowledgeable on other game lore as they are on EQ.

TL;DR: Help me get back into the World if Warcraft from the EverQuest thread. I like y'all better but a rogue cannot solo in EQ!

You could probably just do the $20 basic WoW game (https://us.shop.battle.net/en-us/product/world-of-warcraft) and see how far you get. I bet it comes with a free month, too. If you get to max level and want more, you could always buy the expansion!

Probably best off scrapping your level 60 dude though, the game moves pretty quick and it's changed significantly since you last played; trying to come into the game as a level 60 would probably actually be detrimental to the overall experience.

Yeah, I mean, I guess I wasn't speaking against using his OG account, but more against trying to pick up the existing level 60 again. This is all based on personal experience, but if I don't start an MMO character from level 1, I can't really make sense of all the abilities and what's what because there are too many options at once. I like being spoon fed abilities and what not.

PS: I think I was drinking when I posted that original post and I just didn't word/approach that appropriately. Sorry :D

I thought it used to be just hit "tab" and it cycled through, but that's only for allies now apparently.

You can rebind that key, go to the keys section in the options and fiddle with it to your hearts content. Same with the chat filters. they can be heavily customized.

I don't know if it was mentioned or if you know it, but on Phinny it's a truebox server, so you have to have separate computers for each account unlike the live stuff where you can just run a bajillion instances of EQ at once.

I got the itch recently so I leveled a monk and a shaman up to 77 on Mischief, and then had the bright idea to bring an actual tank into the group instead of relying on a merc. I leveled a dude up and I now have a 75 SK to go along with my monk and shaman. Two questions:

1. I did my 2.0 for my SK (surprisingly easy), is it worth it to get epics on my Shaman and Monk?

2. Are there any profitable things I can do with my 3 box team? I'm a little low on plat now after gearing up the SK.

Pro tip: Best Buy sells USB numpads for :10bux: that are awesome for multiboxing. I picked up a couple today and it really smoothed things out for me. I can put em right next to each other and hit the buttons on both at the same time with one hand.

Sweet, thanks for the tips! I'll def knock out the Shaman epic then. This guide (https://www.eqprogression.com/shaman-1-5-epic-pre-quest-guide/) says that it's faster to just do the 1.0 vs the 1.5 pre-quest, is that still true?

Could I farm a Globe of Discordant Energy on my own with my 3 box team at this level? For my SK, I read through the 2.0 quest while I was camping something for my 1.5 and saw that I needed to go to Anguish. I assumed I couldn't do that on my own, so I resigned myself to just having the 1.5. Maybe 15-20 minutes later someone put one up for sale in the general channel and sold it to me off a corpse in Harbinger's Spire for 50k. I didn't even know it could drop outside of Anguish.

Let's put it this way - I camped my bard in PoDisease trying to get the tsetsian drop for the pre-quest and during that time, did the entire 1.0 over on my shaman and still never saw the 1.5 drop. It's absurdly bad drop rate.

And yeah, the orb can drop in harbingers because of Mischief fuckery. It's probably the easiest way to get it. I trio'd it with SK/shaman/bard at 75, but the drop isn't guaranteed. It was a little tough though, but you can probably use mercenaries there now so it should be doable.

I'd still probably push up to 80 first, depending on your gear.

Okay, good to know! Thanks!

Jewel is just so easy, I can bulldoze that place for easy exp with a healer and 2 dps mercs, and the hot zone bonus puts it about on par with the exp in Loping Plains. I did pop in to MG when I just had the two box, but at level 75 the kills were slow and the risk was much higher, I've been meaning to try it again though. I went into Hills of Shade last night to try and get a couple spells for my Shaman but my 75 SK was getting smoked compared to the 77 tank merc.

I went through a big chunk of MG last night with my group, it was definitely doable! I had some really bad pulls that I managed to survive, go go melee DPS tank. What makes that zone so good? Is it just that it's instanced, and has high level mobs? The exp got better as I went deeper in, but Atiiki was something like .4% a kill, where MG was .6%. My monk and shaman are closing in on 80 though, and my SK is 78 now. SK needs some AA grinding bad, but I am not looking forward to buying a bunch of combat agility/stability ranks, those are the most boring AA's ever.
