According to the book Hit & Run, this became a trailer that people would go to see just for itself- they'd buy a ticket for the film it was attached to and leave once it had played.

The last gasp of that would probably be the Episode One teaser they attached to Wing Commander. After that pretty much everything went online.

Something I thought was interesting was comparing the newest Amazing Spider-Man trailer with the one just previous to it. In it they both use the same shot for the climax of the trailer (Spidey on the rooftop that's collapsing) but it becomes obvious that they hadn't quite finished FX work as the most recent one added some kind of energy/electrical field to the sky.

Creepy as gently caress. I was just chilling on the couch being bored with my iPad and decided to see what new trailers there were. I saw the awesome GANGSTER SQUAD trailer and immediately decided to check SA and see if there was a thread about it or perhaps a thread where you could discuss upcoming movies/trailers, and the OP of the thread helped make that trailer? Whoa.

I watched the Gangster Squad trailer earlier and while the movie looks interesting Sean Penn's make up is just distracting. It makes him look like he's wearing a weird mask.

I was watching X-Men: First Class on TV the other day and I was reminded of the submarine trailer they flooded the airwaves with. While I can understand the studio wanting a big dramatic/showy moment to showcase it still had the problem of completely undermining Magneto's arc.

So not only are Warner Bros. removing that Gangster Squad trailer and cutting a new one, they're also completely removing that scene from the movie and doing re-shoots.

Which is ridiculous.

Tom Hanks :frogc00l:

Tom Hanks is just getting weird recently. He also has a new web cartoon series where he voices an assassin for an oppressive government. That trailer actually might make me go back and finish the book as I started reading it earlier this year but stopped at around the 70s section because it really didn't seem like it was going anywhere.

Okay, I've never seen the original 'Evil Dead', but I always assumed it was a horror-comedy-hybrid type film because of Bruce Campbell's usual on-screen personality. Am I just totally, completely wrong, or is the trailer for the new version is a different take on the story completely?.

The very first movie is more of a straight horror film, Evil Dead 2 (which is basically a remake of the first movie) is where they started adding slightly comedic elements to it. While Army of Darkness (which is the third movie and a direct sequel to Evil Dead 2) is just straight up silly.

Edit: Also Steve Wozniak's reaction to that jOBS clip is fairly harsh:

quote:

Not close...we never had such interaction and roles...I'm not even sure what it's getting at...personalities are very wrong although mine is closer...don't forget that my purpose was inspired by the values of the Homebrew Computer Club along with ideas of the value of such machines and Steve J. wasn't around and didn't attend the club so he was the one learning about such social impact of the future.
