Okay, maybe I'm just being a retard here, but how do you import characters you've made from the demo? I've made my character and pawn in the demo and saved the data, but when I start the main game I do the griffin fight with the premade character, and then it launches me right into the character creator and I can't see any options for importing from the demo. I really hate to think that I need to write everything down and remake them both from scratch. :(
The guys you made in the demo should be showing up as the default choice as soon as the creator starts up in the main game. When you start up the game it'll say something about importing your demo data. Once you go through the prologue you'll get to the character generator and it should be the exact same thing you last modified in the demo for that character/pawn.

I'm starting to get a little annoyed with how this game is handling some of its quests. I'm in Gran Soren right now doing the Fontaine quest and the markers and people I need to talk to are just bugging out on me.

I'm at the very end of the quest, but the dude I need to talk to last isn't where he was previously. My pawn just tells me "yeah he should be yelling on the streets" but he's not, I searched every street in the city. It's really frustrating because my only other option is to pay a ridiculous sum of money to complete the quest, but this guy has apparently vanished into thin air. I have the quest set to priority and the other people I needed to talk to all have the red icons over their heads, but I can no longer find the last guy! What the hell?
Yeah, the same thing was happening to me. I just ended up leaving the city and coming back in, and that made the guy pop up. Happened a bunch to me when I was looking for the kid and then the wife earlier in the quest.

Ok another question. I just finished (spoilered just in case) the No Honor Among Thieves quest and got Maul's Badge of Amity, signifying we're friends. Dunno what good it's for, though. He still refuses to give me the grimioire from the Troublesome Tome quest. He says I should just fight him for it. Is that the only way? I figured after I did the other quest he'd be more inclined to help me out.

A Troublesome Tome: If you climb the tower that's behind the camp all the way to the very top, you'll find a chest with the grimoire inside and you won't have to fight the bandits for it.

So has seriously no one finished the "A Lost Cause" and "Thanks Mislaid" quests? I can't find where those two items are anywhere and nobody on the internet seems to know.
I've finished both.

For "A Lost Cause": Go to Prayer Falls, which is near the Abbey, and follow the river as close as possible to the shore and head right towards that bridge northwest of Gran Soren. Break open any debris. I got my purse from a spot in the water where there were a bunch of invisible saurians, near the shore in a shallow part of the river about midway through, but apparently the spot is randomized.

For "Thanks Mislaid": Go to Fournival's mansion and check the counter directly across from the entrance and underneath a wardrobe/bookcase upstairs in his room. You should find two documents in total, one of those is it.

alternatively, rent out my pawn if you're on the PSN!!!

So I have the invite to visit the duke, and got the warning that all my current tasks would be forfeit. What I'm not clear on is if that applies to quest from the billboards or character that I haven't attempted yet: For example, I just unlocked some "Arise to Power" quests for slaying oxen and skeletal mages. Will these be lost if I visit the duke or only if I take them first? Right now I don't have any active quests.

When I visited the Duke, I had a few of those "Kill X enemy" quests active and they were still there when I finished meeting with him. Maybe it just cancels non-billboard sidequest stuff / wipes billboards?

You don't actually end up killing him, he has cutscene immunity. I tried just sitting around and waiting for him to stop attacking after his speech but he never did, so I guess it's an unavoidable battle.

So I'm having what seems to be a problem: I've got the quest "Parcel Delivery Service." I go to Soulflayer Canyon, where it says the parcels are supposed to be, right? I've cleared the place out three times and found nothing remotely like a parcel. I'm still 0/10 for quest objectives. What gives?

Same thing happened to me. It looks like you need to have "The Conspirators" quest active and in full swing (as in, the cutscene that takes you to that place has happened) in order for all the mail to spawn. That should let you collect the parcels.

Was the innkeeper glowing pink/blushing at you?

If he was, congratulations, it's supposed to happen because the innkeeper is your true love, and that's who the dragon kidnaps! Hope you like going to Cassardis to do anything now because he's going to be chilling out there from now on instead of Gran Soren in the post-game.

To be honest, unless you really like Cassardis or the Encampment a lot and have enough Ferrystones to burn, I think resetting to an earlier checkpoint and lowering affection with the guy until he's not glowing pink is your best bet if you want to access your stuff in Gran Soren before New Game+.

Holy poo poo, the boss monsters in the new content are the biggest HP sponges ever.

I spent what must have been more than half an hour trying to kill an elder ogre because my sorcerer pawn got instagibbed by something (probably an executioner) and disappeared before I noticed, and my mage only had ice affinity on her. The stupid thing's HP budged at about a tick of health every 10 seconds.

I've gotta be doing something wrong. Not even that room that was full of the three garms, two ogres, and maelstrom pawns took as long as that fight did.

On the upside, it's pretty fun seeing how the lower leveled goon pawns I've hired do. One of them managed to do some damage to Death before he floated away, in between falling asleep every few seconds.

Yeah, if you want weapons for physically-centered classes, you choose the blacksmith, and if you want magically-centered and female-only items, you choose the lady. Make sure you make a forgery of the idol before you turn it in so you can still have the shop discount.

yes. The pawns are very dumb around those things sometimes. Mine usually start climbing up onto it and smashing their helmet until it wakes up and starts wrecking everything.

Just wait until your 2nd clear of BBI after you beat the final boss. Drakes, wyverns and wyrms must have insane defense and/or hp because I can barely scratch them even using the proper element. Then again, maybe this is because I am a MK instead of an Assassin.

No, those things have disgusting amounts of HP and defense. Dire gouge as an Assassin with an enchantment on still takes forever to kill them with, especially when they decide they want to spend all day shaking around. My character is more geared to MK, though. Maybe not having 800 strength is why.

Lotish posted:

One thing I don't remember is if the effects of giving the idols carry over to NG+.

As far as I've noticed, the new inventory from the idol is available as soon as you get to Gran Soren, so giving the idol to the person you didn't give it to the first time will always be better.

How does the Ur-Dragon work? I whacked on Generation 222 for a bit then it flew off. The wiki says that everyone who participates gets loot, do I just wait until it's dead then go back to the arena and pick up the loot or something?

Yeah, if you've fought it and your damage's uploaded to the server, and you miss killing the Dragon during the "grace period" (when the dragon is actually kill-able, provided your damage output is high enough to throttle its remaining hearts and HP), you'll get a small chance for some consolation prize weapon when you come back and it's at full health. But killing the dragon during grace period is much more worth your while, if you can manage to be at home when it happens, because you'll get a weapon, guaranteed, along with the Abyssinal armor set.

Was there anyway to prevent the final boss of Dark Arisen from sending my pawns to hell? He did that right after I took off two bars so I had to solo him with my Warrior.

The only way I've avoided it is by running away like hell in a direction where pawns won't pass under him as soon as the camera is pulled off my guy and hitting the "Come" command on the D-pad. If my pawns are listening they'll get through all right. If they aren't, I'm usually able to interrupt him by using the "Lycean Sight" bow skill and headshotting him 2-3 times. He'll freak out and stop his move, and the pawns'll be fine.

This won't work for warriors, of course. Maybe clinging on to his head and smashing him would work? The issue is avoiding getting pulled in yourself, though. Don't know how to avoid that.

Take literally every notice board quest you can. They never expire, and the boards don't refresh until you complete available ones.
The only notice board quests you should avoid unless you desperately need a relationship boost with x NPC are the escort requests. Don't take those if you don't want to. Otherwise do what he told you and take everything.

Change your (and your pawn's) job to "same color" vocations - like Fighter/Fighter or Strider/Ranger, etc. Cursed Gear is static unless it's a job-specific ability ring though, so don't bother trying to change the +stat rings. Weapons and armor can be changed, and novelties are always static.

Man, I just don't get how damage works sometimes.
Magic is king in BBI now, especially when it's elemental. For the Fire Drake, you need Ice and a high magic stat if you want to kill him quickly, and I'm pretty sure it's the toughest of the three powered-up dragons. If you've got a holy or fire type weapon/magic, you're screwed for time unless you bought a bunch of periapts to stack. Physical attacks are a lot less damaging to things in there.

Yeah, from what the game page itself says, you play as Arisen again (覚者, which can mean 'enlightened one', is the JP term for Arisen) but you get dragged over to another country altogether, rather than Gransys, so maybe it's a 'what-if'/parallel world thing. Eurogamer seems to have gotten word from Capcom they're thinking about a localization, at least (source). At least the Vita's region-free, in case Capcom decides to leave it in localization limbo.
