I will never get tired of this car. Ever. I know there are only a few pictures of it, but I love them every time I see them. There's a Mangusta done up like this as well, yeah? Those old Avons are sex.

I can recommend the VSCDA event in September if you are looking for something relatively inexpensive. If you need a hotel many of the sleepy towns just a few minutes away from the track have nice motels and hotels. Portage being one. There's also a great bar in Plymouth that makes one hell of an Old Fashioned.

VikingSkull posted:Yeah, pinstriping is awesome. The style in the picture you quoted basically started simultaneously with hot rodding, with guys like Von Dutch, Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, and Dean Jeffries leading the charge. You're not from the US, so it's ok that you don't know that. It's a huge part of our traditional car culture, though. Pinstriping itself has been around since the dawn of the automobile, and even before that. Old stagecoaches in the American West often featured pinstriping and gold-leaf, too! Thanks for this post. I've never really been super into the hot rod scene (although I do find things that I love), but pinstriping has always fascinated me. I'm working through the first video now and am just blown away at this guy's nonchalance and talent. I've always wanted to try my hand at pinstriping, but never really knew how or where to start.

IOwnCalculus posted:You're at the point with an engine like that where every component in them is already custom, and the 'design' is remarkably simple. It may have theoretically started life as a Chevy (he has one listed as a Pontiac, interestingly) but everything has been scaled well past compatibility with any parts that weren't purpose-built for this monster. Those are sharp as hell. I've never really been a Chevy truck guy, but the '67-'72 C10s have always caught my eye. Yours has been quite the inspiration to look into picking one up
