Lord Bors got an art upgrade! To be fair, he looked a bit like Saitama in a dumb costume the first time around.

And.... that's it!

That's one hell of an upgrade though

Lord Bors looks less anime and more Destroyer of Worlds now

How well do DC comics sell in Japan anyhow?

I would bust a gut if it sold better than it does stateside. If they'll buy Pabst Blue Ribbon at triple the price I wouldn't rule it out :v:

I guess everyone has their off days.

Can we talk about the extra chapters added in post-story arc?

Because holy cow, the smelly lid prison introduction for Pri-Pri Prisoner has become one of my favorite parts of the series. It was so well done and I practically lost my poo poo over the big reveal at the end, it was that funny

'SHUUUUUUUT UUUUUUUUUUUUUP!'

I like Murata's take on Garou's design.

He's got one of those ectomorph builds jacked to 11. He's lean, mean, really adds to his sinister nature. We don't really get a lot of those in comics aside from 'skinny stickbox dude who can flatten mountans' a la Bleach.

I like how, despite being a parody of shonen comics, the series is actually better paced and structured than most of the shonen series actively trying to be taken seriously. Maybe it's because the series is so unapologetic about its intents right out the gate that it loops full circle to being amazing in all aspects.

That fight with the Sea King? I found myself rooting for that fucker to be taken down, right along other shonen heavyhitters like Crocodile or Cell. And that guy had heart nipples! That is begging your readers to treat him like fluff, but I just can't because One is so drat good with his pacing and set-up.

I'm having trouble figuring out if I should take the series as silly or serious now, the writer and artist toe the line so well it's all but blurred for me at this point.

You should also check out ONE's other series if you haven't yet. It trends slightly more seriously.

Is it drawn by Murata as well? Or maybe he hired another professional artist to do the heavy lifting?

It's not gonna stop me, it just seems confusing that he wouldn't give Mob Psycho the same treatment as One Punch Man, especially considering that MP is where he spends the brunt of his focus on

If I were One i'd be doing all I could to get that series out there when you spend so much time working on it. It seems like an odd choice.

No no, ONE is not a good artist; he is a competent one who can relay a scene with his eye for composition and framing a setting.

He does not need to be a good artist for these storytelling abilities, which is great! But he is not a good artist.

I'm not sure if that's a testament to the strength of ONE'S writing or a critique on the sad state of action comics in Japan's industry

I think it's the colouring. Because most manga artists physically colour their works or digitally paint them to look like physical colouring seeing the super flat, cel shaded colouring of the anime designs is off putting. It's an aspect of the uncanny valley.

All that aside, I'm looking forward to this so much. Even if it flops it won't undo the webcomic or manga so it's free to do what it wants and it could be another fantastic rendition of the series.

This is the only anime adaptation where i'd actually be cool with seeing filler for.

Every episode would be akin to the Goku and Piccolo driver's ed filler.

Saitama goes to the store on a milk run, fights a dairy cow monster!

I wonder how this will work with One's randomized chapter update schedule. He doesn't update in a regular fashion; sometimes it'll be a chapter update within an already finished story arc (see the Smelly Lid prison b-plot starring Pri-Pri), or he'll just pad out the conclusion of another one to enrich an S-Class hero like Metal Knight.

That's sort of the strength/flexibility of updating your series online, you can just add or replace sections at your leisure if you feel it compliments the narrative. Throw in a TV show schedule and it gets hazardous.
