I love the thread too. And when I bitch about Stardew characters it's just because it's fun to be a bit mean to fictional people that it can't hurt. I don't think Pierre is the worst, I just enjoy calling him names. Clint I *do* think comes off much creepier than was perhaps intended.

Give me a villager who holds a mirror up to my psychopathy. Have their house look like a hoarder on adderall. they can't hold a conversation because they're calculating the gold per day if they switch from sweet potatoes to carrots next fall.

They hold every record for fishing and they just booked Clint for a full week of tool upgrades

Thinking about difficulty mods it might be neat if there was a saturation mechanic. Like after you pass a sales threshold you can't sell more of that thing for a while or the selling price goes down. If you just lower the profit that encourages you to make an even larger starfruit winery. Wouldn't it be better if you were encouraged to do something new?

Similarly, even if your money making ability is enhanced in the early game by co-op, it feels like you incur a bunch more costs trying to do multiple backpack upgrades, tool upgrades, book faire books, etc.

I suppose it's something where money for all the reasonable priced stuff becomes trivial quickly, but then all the super expensive convenience stuff feels like you can't afford it until you barely need it anymore.

In theory it should have good synergy with mahogany trees, but in practice they grow too slowly to help much. They're great if you have the forest farm with the daily hardwood stumps to feed to the chippers. Sadly there's no warp totem for the secret woods for those of us on other farm types. As it is, it's more efficient to just keep a forest on your farm or in the quarry to fertilize and chop on the regular.
