Is that...the Pokemon TCG with meme-based pokemon? There are so many copyrighted things in that game, I highly doubt the creator won't get sued/forced to cancel the project even if they "redesign the game a few times because we felt we could be susceptible to lawsuits". The gameplay is like an exact copy of the Pokemon TCG with energy cards, trainer cards and evolutions to make your monsters stronger.

I didn't even look at the rules. I saw Pokemon colours and fonts, pokemon cards, and images there is now way they have any rights to use (more likely get sued over). Brutal.

I don't have a problem with KickStarter being the new model of how TV/Movies are greenlit. Then I could actually see with my own eyes that people in fact do love terrible shows. You could up the $10,000 cap, and allow for companies to pledge product placements :haw:

I have attempted to contact every artist whose work I have featured as part of this pitch and asked you if you would like to be part of the project. If you would prefer that your work was removed, please just let me know and we will just use it as inspiration. Alternatively, just reply to me on deviantART and we can talk numbers. :)

A list of the brilliant people who have inspired me thus far to transform this into a reality are:
Sugarnhoney (On board and responsible for Jessika and 2 others thus far)
Rehmiel (Responsible for Foxie and on board)
Meawsy (ready to be a part of this)
Slugbox
Evov1
Missnips
Alejandra Perez
Kaze Hime
MattBourne (sorry you don't want to be involved)
Magiscarf
Pupururu
If I have missed you off the list, please do let me know. Likewise if you're a talented artist and open for commissions, please get in touch as I'd love to get you on board.
Again, a big shout and thanks goes out to Slugbox. I know he's not the only sexy pokemon style artist in the world, but finding his work really helped envision what I meant by stage 2 "sexy" evolution.

I was close.

Edit: Actually, I am pretty surprised that somebody who draws this stuff isn't interested in being in the project. Probably has been in failed project before :haw:

I get the impression that their approval process is a quick once over to make sure the project doesn't break any of the rules* and won't get them sued and their secondary process for vetting projects is 1) wait for a social media shitstorm and then 2) decide whether the project in question makes KS Inc look bad. If they get enough complaints of a certain nature they'll cancel a project otherwise they just don't care. One the other hand they might knock back approval for 50 tentacle rape games every week and the two we saw just happened to sneak through, they're notoriously uncommunicative in regards to how they run the site so we can only guess at stuff like this.

* The "No 'fund my life' projects" rule seems to be pretty flexible as long as something is produced/created at the end of the project.

I'm pretty sure the KS process is "Approve pretty much everything, because it might make us money." And "Only cancel things when somebody important runs a news story on it."

I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with that, either. Kickstarters #1 priority is getting paid, and I think it has become apparent enough that tons of low quality projects are not going to make people shy away from crowdfunding in the short term (obviously long term has yet to be determined)

As long as their projects are not inherently dangerous to society, then I see no reason why they should not approve it. The only instance I can think of where Kickstarter let something actually dangerous get funded was that rape book, which they have admitted was a mistake and owned up to it, and I assume they will make sure nothing like that slips through the cracks again.

It's only okay to do that right now is because there isn't really any competition. Should somebody release a less lovely KS, then they might be in trouble. As it is they don't really enforce the rules they have set out. It seems/is arbitrary, and I'm betting that eventually it will bite them in the rear end.

What is your status with Square Enix?
The team is very familiar with how Square Enix has dealt with fan projects in the past and has taken every step to avoid becoming a statistic. Several steps have been taken so far to give us the best possible chance of success.

- We have sent several letters and emails to many departments of SE which we know have been received and read. Square's general legal counsel has been aware of this project for many months.
- We have engaged in persistent dialog with the manager of SE online, who assured us that both the North American and European divisions were supportive of our efforts.
- We have had the series trailer actually appear on the SE website.
- We have acquired the music rights via a surrogate agency that gives us licensing permission with specific legal caveats.

While this functions as tacit approval on some levels, we understand that we are not officially endorsed by Square Enix. We are, and always have been, eager to speak with SE about our project and welcome open and honest communication. We think this project would benefit fans and Square alike. Adding YOUR voice through your donation helps us greatly.

I'm not seeing where the huge beef with this project is. These people seem to be professional enough. Or atleast sociable enough, have their poo poo together and in all honesty, after listening to the pitch I'm confident they'll be able to do something with their funds. Maybe not all the grand things they have planned, but something.
