I love the storm giants but the female one is the best. She looks like she's taunting some adventurer right before she hits him with her club and eats him. The facial expression conveys a really awesome trickstery villain feel, like she's thinking "OH BOY ANOTHER DELICIOUS PALADIN NOMNOMNOMNOM.". The male one on the other hand is pretty good but really feels like he needs a shield of some sort to tie him together.

Does anyone actually play Warlord? I've been curious if it actually is a good system for generic small scale fantasy battles ever since the local groups gave up on WHFB due to 8th Eds lacklusterity.

I have a copy of it I won from a contest Reaper did when the game first came out but I haven't done more than casually peruse it. It seemed like it was in dire need of a graphic designer and layout specialist since its mostly Microsoft Excel esque stat cards and some sort of haphazard illustrations and artwork.

I thought it sort of looks like she's leaning over to examine someone standing in front of her but that could not be the case depending on how tall she is compared to an average adventurer.

Man, now that I know they've started shipping, I'm really jonesin' for some bonesin'.

I feel like a big RPG adventure based on all the dudes in the vampire set (with optional sidequests for add-ons?!) would be in order. :suicide:

My friend ran a dungeon he called "Raid Wipe Dungeon" where you started from level one and the dungeon itself was super hard. The idea was that in one night of gaming you would play five to ten characters and everytime the party died you started over knowing how to beat the dungeon better. It was very good but required some serious chops on his part because the same idea could be easily botched.

Or you could crack open one of those "biggest dungeon ever" modules.

I bought like 30 or so to use in 40k, they make great generic troopers especially when comboed with the Gears of War looking dudes they also have.

The only difference I can tell with the Bones is that some of the sharp edges aren't as defined as on metal minis.

Visually with painted minis. Stuff like the edges of gems, jewelry and armor plates is slightly softer. It's a bigger problem on the smaller minis like the kobolds.

Dipping only works on certain subsets of minis. Skaven, Deathwing, Blindwater, Tyranids and Menoth are all things with color schemes that are conducive to dipping. You're shading browns so you're only going to get good results on things that shade well to brown like yellows and reds (and obviously browns and flesh tones). Also if you aren't matte varnishing your dips they're gonna look like poo poo. Most bad looking dip jobs I see are based entirely on one of two things: A)No matte varnish B)Not removing enough of the dip when you spin/flick.

Depends on the brand TBH. In my experience there is almost no difference between ceramcoat and GW paints. At least the big tube of Ceramcoat "flesh" I bought some time ago is pretty much identical to old GW Elf Flesh. I've used Folk Art and Apple Barrel some as well and the biggest issue with them is that the paint thickness to pigment ration varies wildly among their paints. Some of their stuff like most of their browns can be painted on as is, but other things like their greens need to be watered down or thinned with matte medium to a more acceptable thickness. Apple Barrel tends to be thinner and sometimes have a more chalky finish to it but I have a tube of their white and fluo green that have served me well for a couple of years with no real issues.

Edit: Just don't use any craft acrylic metallics! The flake size for their metals is much too big to use for modelling purposes.

I think a lot of people are also angry because a bunch of the people who ordered huge orders of like ten sets so they could vendor them for profit got their poo poo in and are flipping them for a bunch of money all over the place on the net. And nothing is worse than buying a thing you really want, not getting it for a long time and discovering that some guy who bought a bunch just to make a buck and doesn't care about the thing you like as much as you is rolling in them.

This happened at the GameStop I frequented during the height of Pokemon mania, a shipment of boosters would come in at like 11 through UPS and a bunch of schlubby old guys would be there to buy them up the second they hit shelves so they could flip them at flea markets or eBay the singles and by the time school got out and the actual seven year old kids got to the store there was only two or three boosters remaining. This was at the point where Wizards was limiting how much product B&M stores could order as well so it's not like they could just get more to sell they were lucky if they got a full shipment to start with.

It's not really like that at all because that was a finite supply, while this was made-to-order. You're sounding just as bad as the Kickstarter comments and posting frankly unrelated anecdotes about Pokemon cards to try to support your argument, which is dumb.

From what I gather speaking to a higher-up at Reaper directly, people who made huge orders are less priority than those who bought a single Vampire set, for example. So those, like me, who made 3000+ dollar orders, are at the back of the line. You should get your facts straight before making assumptions. If other people who made huge orders are getting special treatment, they must have pulled some serious strings to get it.

I personally only asked them, if they are able and have the stock, to ship me enough of my order piecemeal so I can cover all the preorders I've sold, and the rest of the order can be the last thing they send out for all I care. I just want to get them into the folks who have already paid me's hands ASAP.

And people who buy things to sell for a profit are not all curmudgeonly old men, contrary to popular belief!

I don't really give a poo poo, I'm just saying that's why a lot of people are pissed. People in this hobby think that love of a product should equal the best treatment by the company that makes that product so they get mad when Reaper keeps delaying their orders but they can go on eBay and buy a Vampire set for 250 dollars.

Are the one's with Kaladrax/Nethermaul shipping last or something? Because I have waaaaaay less stuff than everyone else I know who's order was already shipped (Vampire, One set of Giants, Nethermaul and a Novocorp Squad IIRC).

If anyone has one of the big dragons on hand, could you take a pic next to a Warhammer Fantasy Chariot/Big Monster base? I'm curious if Nethermaul is too large to use as a zombie dragon for my Vampire Counts.

So I guess I was drunk when I ordered or something because one of these entries is in a slightly more than I thought I ordered quantity:

Fire Giant Warriors x1
Kaladrax Reborn x1
NOVA x6
vampire x1

Were the extra NOVA squads really cheap or something? I guess I have the basis for a cool new IG army!

Each NOVA squad is five guys and you could add them for $5 each. So at $1 per, that's a pretty good deal for your new imperial guard army. Note that you also get a squad with your Vampire level (assuming you went in for vampire), so that's a total of 35 NOVA dudes.

I think in retrospect I wanted to use them for corporate security guards in Shadowrun or maybe Arbites in Necromunda. It was a long time ago.

How are reaper models scaled compared to GW?

I was thinking of adding this to the scrying pool of a VC coven throne. Will it fit?

They are close in scale, it really depends. GW has poo poo for scale when it comes to female models so those probably fall somewhere in the acceptable range. A lot of Reaper stuff is very thin compared to GW.

I know Reaper has a LOT of dragons, but really how many dragons are you gonna paint up and use? Do you have a game that is just your heroes against like ten dragons, and each one has to be represented with a different model? I guess if you need a green dragon you need Blightfang here because you can't have a red dragon representing a green dragon, that'd be crazy.

A) People love big dragon minis, just from a collector standpoint.
B) Warhammer Fantasy. If you say wanted a different looking dragon for a Chaos Dragon as opposed to a High Elf one.

Bones 3 already happened, they did the CAV kickstarter. It was successful but not uproariously so.

After the performance in 1 and 2 I'd be a little surprised to see a third, though - but I've been wrong before, and as I understand it these KSes are mostly to buy the injection moulds, so... I guess at the point where they need to get more figures in production, they probably do another kickstarter.

I wouldn't be shocked by a Bones KS for Warlord. It's a pretty decent small sized mini's game and if they got Bone's pricing on some of the units I think it could become pretty popular all things considered. Right now it's like ~80-150 bucks plus rules to get a full army sized force but with Bones it could easily be half or a third that. The books are cheap too so you'd be looking at a buy in of maybe 80 for a large force with the base rulebook or like 40 with a small force. Mantic managed to sell people on "it's A Games Workshop Game but half price" like four or five times on KS so far so I think Reaper could pull some serious dosh with the right marketing campaign behind it.

And I'm not just saying this because they sent me a free copy of the rulebook for Warlord Second Edition (well I kind of am because otherwise I would have never read or played it ever but still).

You also don't need to be a dick about it. I'm just asking, learn to word your poo poo less abrasively even if you have some good points. It's not really ridiculous. I got in on the kickstarter, so got it for cheaper than normal, and want to take advantage of that to make an extra profit but still offer a decent discount, so I'm asking what would be fair.

He seems to be going for between 50-65 on Ebay, some with free shipping(the higher ones), some without. So I'll probably do a little less than that for him, somewhere around 45ish I think.

Uh, he worded that pretty nicely considering you way overshot with your pricing and he has a totally valid point.

You're not unique in thinking you can flip your KS stuff by using the retail prices as a guide, but much like I can just go see what prices most games cost a game store to order and decide if the deal they're giving me is correct we all know exactly how much you and every other scalper/reseller paid for the products and the market is going to be totally flooded with them in about a week. If you toss your stuff in a closet for two years you'll be able to easily get retail -25% for it on eBay, but not while the price everyone who is selling the product paid is way lower than normal and the market has adjusted the price down.

Captain Invictus posted:

edit: also, I am genuinely curious, what sites sell Bones stuff for 25% off retail price?

Miniature Market, Warstore, Noble Knight, basically all the heavy hitters.
