I must be the only person in the universe that prefers TV Nihon's subs, at least for Gokaiger. I actually like the colored subs, and I prefer to see the honorifics in the subtitles. "Mr. Marvelous" doesn't flow as well for me as "Marvelous-san"

It somehow worked for Decade, but I don't recall many instances where TV-N just had the original Japanese with a minor note for the translation somewhere else. Decade really is a show that helps to be distracted by colored objects.

I've just been waiting so long for a good reason to post that because goddamn, even when you get past all the untranslated garbage, the lovely fonts, the dumb graphics, and even when they mishear poo poo leading to complete mistranslation, you still have objectively lovely phrasing.

How can you listen to the way that line is delivered and seriously think that translating it to be the most awkward, formal thing is even close to appropriate? It's as if they don't even listen to how things get said, or who says them. It's like they have one guy write down what he hears in phonetic english with no punctuation marks, and then they have another guy translate it literally, and then they have a third guy order the words according to English grammar except when he doesn't feel like it.

I'll admit, "Count the number of your sins" is way more epic than "Count your crimes," regardless of translation accuracy.

Yeah, that was me. I loved Kabuto, but only because I could revel in how absurd the show was. Also because of the food porn. I also had no qualms with the practically perfect Mary Sue of a main lead, but my first dip into toku was Decade, so that probably explains it. Wild Force is pretty close to Gaoranger. Have mine. Kabuto's a goddamn trainwreck, and not the entertaining kind. Sad, because I love the suits and most of the secondary Riders, but the series completely derails...by episode 30, if I don't badly remember, and never recovers, it can never decide if we're meant to take Tendou as a fun exaggeration of a perfect character or a true, godly perfect character that everyone should love despite being an rear end in a top hat to literally everyone except his family, and the Natives are boring as hell.

Ah, the Dark Kitchen two-parter. Tendou cooks far less food after that, which is part of the decline in Kabuto's quality. But it's helped by having the bosom BDSM brothers, PunchHopper and KickHopper.

Though the thing is there were plenty of plot threads in Decade that they could have built a story around but none of them ever really went anywhere. Hell, once they ran out of Heisei Riders they could have had Tsukasa visiting Showa worlds for the second half of the show, maybe ending with the world of the original Kamen Rider. That might have been interesting.

Instead they just scattered them around in movies and original worlds with the exception of Black/RX and Amazon. On the other hand, the series did feature the first Sentai/Rider crossover which wasn't bad (Although technically Power Rangers did it first in this case).

When is Tsukasa going to finally try sea cucumber?
