The Magic Circle is a pretty fun game. Worth checking out. Yes, the protagonist is pretty much Rusty but a failure atwith so much unrealized potential at video games.

What does that game have to do with anything besides "we got the rights to (and VAs for) these characters"?

It's like Card Sharks, by Accolade for the Commodore 64. That's what I hoped those Poker Night games were, and I was right.

Anyway, the game is about hanging out with some cartoon video game friends of yours and playing some poker. Sometimes they say cool or funny stuff.

People like all kinds of games, tastes vary, etc.

You know, I hope the movie has a soundtrack album and that they put the Dr. Orpheus music on it for reasons that do not involve me wearing a cape and ranting operatically at strangers.

I wish I could find the song that plays over this sequence, but it seems like it's an original JG Thirlwell composition that only exists in that one scene.

Which is why he needs to put out a second album of Venture Brothers music.

The latter half of HQ S3 explored a lot of the harmful and idiotic tropes of the Batman ethos and took a lot of the piss out of it. Batman is the architect of his own misery and I'm glad a canon source, even one that barely qualifies, finally said it.

It's too bad the first half of HQ S3, again, really sucked.

So what you're saying is it's a bit disappointing but most people will be fine about it. Cool, thanks!

I’m rewatching Metalpocalypse now for the same reason, and yeah, that show aged worse in some places. I know they’re supposed to be the biggest idiots in the world, but it’s kind of like Cartman in South Park. Even though they’re idiots, they’re still saying lovely things.

Depiction != endorsement, and that's something we seem to have collectively lost relatively recently on a cultural level.

Thing is 'depiction = endorsement' has gotten into some genuinely stupid degrees lately, usually in the context of clickbaiting outrage merchants and tumblr tween brained idiots taking poo poo wildly out of context and treating actions by obvious villains that are clearly meant to be bad things done by bad people and acting like they must be endorsements. Also goes with the particular weird and terrible brainworms of people believing that pop culture of all kinds must present the correct moral instruction for the children above all.

Often goes along with people who've apparently never watched any media not primarily intended for children before.

I've dealt with 30 drat years of some flavor of "PC culture has gone too far," and I'm fuckin' tired of it. Young people overshooting the target isn't the giant systemic problem people think it is. It's a good thing. Let them be decent young people trying their best.

Art doing harm is an actual problem. People talking about art doing harm is not no matter how much you find it annoying.

The worst problem (in my opinion, and I'm usually right about things I care to venture an opinion on) is people who, with their actions, demonstrate that they refuse to consider others' viewpoints. There can be no accord with those folks, that's not their goal.

It makes me sad and uncomfortable that there are idiots taking the wrong message from various media but everyone else shouldn't have to pay for their stupidity. I am not the arbiter of acceptable thought; I'm not a cop at heart.

To be clear, I don't disagree with you, overall.

If Smurfette is an artificial life form, we can't draw conclusions about Smurf reproduction from her presence, much less her estrul cycle. I'm more inclined to interpret Smurfs as a kind of fungal organism. What appears to be a beard could be some other form of cell growth.

Smurfs are what remains of the Krorks. They's lucky! Their WAAAGH field protects them from most of Gargamel, Wizard of Tzeentch's shenanigans.

Ghost Leviathan posted:

Smurf babies are delivered by stork, this is canon. The later seasons actually show this and also have the Smurfs create another artificial baby girl Smurf so they grow up being used to them.

Storks are surviving messengers of the Old Ones, that's why you barely see any anymore.

Also, given how readily his mind went to using untested aphrodisiacs on "escorts" whom he didn't want to pay for "full service" (or even "half service") you just know it's not the *first* time Rusty's drugged a woman to get laid.

Billy's the moral compass on that show. His mother might be a helicopter mom, but she's the most stable parent of the old guard.

It's okay for protagonists to not be great or even good people. It makes one feel better about oneself and one's many, massive shortcomings.

Not you though, you're perfect, Dear Reader.
