jtm33 posted:I don't really care much about having to wait a while for my key from GMG but it makes me wonder what the hell is the point in pre-ordering if you don't get the game as soon as it is released. I was under the impression that getting it the moment it was released is THE point of pre-ordering. I agree. It's also weird to see people here (and the other forums) sticking up for businesses/corporations instead of other people and customers like themselves. People on those forums are upset and annoyed and are just letting out their frustration. No wonder America made Corporations "people".

Pancakes by Mail posted:I'm not really gonna go into the massive logical leap you took there, but basically saying "Hey waiting 6 hours or so to get your game really isn't a big deal" isn't anywhere near saying "Corporations are people, my friends, and shame on you for speaking against glorious Corporation. Ich liebe Capitalism" It's not a logic leap and I don't really care when I get my key personally as i'm doing work, but you took a huge leap yourself when you made that post. All i'm saying is people make fun of annoyed customers all the time but never the businesses or corporations, nor do they blame them. In a normal world people would be saying GMG, Amazon and Gamersgate are pretty lame for not sending the keys on time but no one is saying that. It's just "lol look at these posts on these forums." jivjov posted:It's just really awkward to see that much hate and bile being slung around for a key being a few hours late. Hate and bile are regular things on the internet. Anonymity is a hell of a thing. I'd say the internet is made up of 50% hate and bile and 50% pornography.

jivjov posted:Well, they're a British company, and unless you're in the US, the game doesn't release until the 12th, so its no surprise they don't have keys yet. The bank chargeback is a bit too much, so is talking about being robbed or all that other melodramatic stuff, but "i'll never shop here again" is pretty legitimate. It's their money after all. People are just frustrated. I don't know, I read the FREEP thread in D&D so maybe i'm just use to how people act on the internet in general.

jivjov posted:Oh yeah, I myself have stopped shopping at various places due to poor treatment, but there's a world of difference between "well, I've been burned, so I'm not coming back" and the frothing rage on the GMG forums. Anonymity is a helluva thing. That plus frustration = posts like the yu-gi-oh guy. But overall it shows an example of why Steam is the best platform and that these other companies will probably lose a few customers over this. Maybe it's a Gaben trick to rule PC gaming...
