I want to get Icestorm and split it, but I also want to get Icestorm and hoard all of the models. Of course it had to include both of the factions I want to start for the sake of their TAGs being rad as gently caress.

The Assault rule sounds rad.

Yeah, he said even if something is attacking you from completely out of LOS, you'll get the chance to at least try a dodge roll.

Genghis Cohen posted:

The new 'assault' rule was also questioned and explained as follows: If you start an order in LoF of your target, you can move the full 4-4 and then still strike in close combat. So that will help non around-the-corner cc attack moves for such models.

He also said that this gives you a -3 to your CC value, but I'm looking forward to it.

The LotR skirmish game just uses the same basic rules as GWs other skirmish games like Mordheim, etc. It's not a bad game system but it's not super well made.

Actually it doesn't. Mordheim is based on Warhammer Fantasy 6e rules while LOTR is an evolved version of their historical Wild West game or something. Completely different stats and combat resolution.

Other than the fate/might/will thing being the big difference, what else is different? I honestly don't remember the fundamentals being different at all.

e: I might be thinking of Gorkamorka rather than Mordheim actually

ee: Yeah I'm thinking of Gorkamorka rather than Mordheim

The stat names are pretty superficially different, it's actually the wounding chart that's the big difference in the LotR game from what I remember since equal values require 5+ instead of 4+, and LotR added in a push mechanic for winning fights and stuff

EM and plama both seem really scary. I like the double-mode idea for the weapons, as it cuts down on a lot of confusion; most of the rules disputes we had at my club were over MULTI weapns andwha tthey coud fire at what bursts. "See, it says burst 3/2/1! That means it can fire 3 normal shots, or 2 AP shots, or one DA shot!"

The new stuff cutting BTS in half also seems a bit...excessive. Those values are not very high to begn with across the board, and th effect of failing the rolls are devastating.

I -really- like the CC changes that we've seen. Basically, if you let certain spcialist models get close, you start getitng only bad choices. Shoot him? He'll roll toward you, using his CC skill to beat your FtF, and maybe make it into close combat. Mob him with cheap stuff to delay (you'd be amazed how long a simple Keisotsu always manages to cling to my myrms despite one being supposedly a badass carver of meat)? They'll go down fast to crits boosted by +CC MA options.

Using the old rules the Paradiso scene in which Achilles beheads an Avatar felt like fan-wanking. With this chart and rules? My money is on Jerkilles all the way.

Martial Arts level 5 is loving crazy :stare:

They still have no natural hacker in faction. Not sure about sectorials, since those aren't in this book. They do get a merc hacker that they can take in ITS, a no-frills wip 13 dude. Most of their stuff has the "not hackable" skill which means they cant be hacked by programs that require a certain troop type (HI, whatever)

Something I just read: Huge change to coordinated orders. Instead of one order per troop, it's 1 regular order total plus 1 Command Token. Up to 4 troops can take part, one is the "Spearhead" who gets half his Burst, everyone else goes to Burst 1. Dodge is one roll against all of those.

Does the spearhead round up or down for his burst?
