The only way wood density won't matter is if you're playing a digital amp. those can make a top of the line les paul and a $50 guitar bought at walmart sound exactly the same. Then you're getting into the elitist $2500 tube stack versus the $450 digital amp debate

Fender are pretty good price-wise as long as you stay away from artist models and the oddly priced american-standards.

Worth noting that PRS post-1994 are really terrible price-wise, £1000+ for something made on a CNC machine is not on at all, they also have these horrible neck heels for some reason, makes it way harder to reach the lower frets than it should do. Rickenbacker are also ok as long as you don't mind thin necks and over-priced replacement parts. Heard good things about mosrite but I've never actually seen one in the flesh.

Eastwood guitars are pretty good if you like oddball stuff, just stay away from anything with less than 21 frets.

As he got older, he discovered things like "carbohydrates", "hair gel", and "bleach"


At some point he realizes - or somebody told him - how ridiculous he looked. Here he is in the rare "regular adult male" stage.


But as Dream Theater began attempting for more of a straight heavy metal sound, Petrucci figured he needed to look the part. He starts growing his hair back out and practicing his totally hardcore poses.


Here he is with longer hair, and slightly more muscles. He's obviously been working out.


Which brings us to the modern day, "Caveman" John Petrucci. He is now an immense monster, barely capable of seeing the guitar past his pecs.
