Asimo posted:Nah, it appears on every ships. Mind you it's a bit less impressive on the larger ones - the Nicor's pretty tiny and the open "mouth" really shows off deflector graphics well - but it's quite a good look. Sort of want to see what the engine trails and shield graphics are like. Same here. If it looks good, I might start working on rep for my Scimitar.

It's probably one of the few (only?) 3 minute clicky damage powers that's worth taking up a console slot. The Vesta's deflector beam and the chain lightning console are also pretty great, though perhaps a bit situational.

Coming back from a couple of months break and it's amazing how the changes to reputation have made the whole process painless. Just by removing the bullshit barrier to entry of replicating pointless poo poo. It'd still be nice to have more reliable sources of Romulan and Tholian marks but at least farming the rep traits is doable with the space missions we get.

I ran into a gap when I levelled my latest 50 just because I skipped the entire Cardassian arc for being boring. It turns out if you do this you'll have to pick up one or two missions once you're onto the Breen/Task Force Omega stuff. I'd still recommend skipping the standard Cardassian content and picking up again at the 4400 missions.

I haven't done the "Scimitar looks like poo poo" rant in a while. I just don't get how Cryptic are happy to make some 3-packs like the Vestas and the Dyson Science Destroyers have three different profiles, but for the Scimitar you've got ugly, ugly and ugly with holes in the wings. How did they not take the opportunity to make at least one of the ships feel more like it belongs to the Romulan Republic? Why is the wing opening animation reserved for the pissweak Thalaron pulse? In an ideal world, the Falchion class would look like a bigger Valdore with a thicker main hull and downswept wings. Instead, half the Romulan player base are running around in weapons of mass destruction.

Introduce a setting where different bits of your ship glow when they're at full/decent power, so that a properly geared Plas Leech cruiser glows like a sun.

Asimo posted:The box from the rep projects are basically just bonus loot. You have a chance of anything from the current rep tier with a smaller chance of something from the next rep tier, and it can be blue or purple quality (and is the only way to get blue rewards from reps currently) with any of the available assortment of weapon modifiers. It's basically a way for complete newbies to get some gearing up while they level the reps, and with luck someone better geared might get some useful purple weapons from it. This is pretty much it. I've decked out my new Romulan engineer with Mk XII weapons and I've got at least one good beam array out of it. If you get something you can't use, vendor it to pay for the rep project.

g0del posted:On the other hand, you're talking about leveling content, which is even more useless in this game than in most MMOs. 1-49 should be done as fast as possible so you can get to the end-game content. You can even still do all the missions at level 50, with level appropriate rewards. None of the lower-tier ships play anything like their end-game counterparts, so you might as well take an escort while leveling so you can at least blow through the space portions faster. I've gotten so used to broadsiding with endgame cruisers that I largely went with cruisers for my most recent levelling run. Until I hit 40, anyway, and realised that I could finally use my free Nebula.
