I've just double checked the time zone stuff for this month, and it turns out that my "painting month" finishes/begins at 9pm on the 1st. I like that deadline better than last year's 10am; painting into the dawn hours and then trying to take reasonable photos in a frantic burst of masochistic procrastination probably wasn't a good idea.

:krakentoot: Oath Complete! :krakentoot:

For the Inquisitor's Journal, Parts List and Double the Fun:

First, I put on base coats of Citadel Foundation Astronomican Grey for the bases, Citadel Foundation Knarloc Green on the ghost, and Citadel Foundation Calthan Brown on the dog.

Then, washes! The ghost got a whole bunch of different ones; Secret Weapon Washes algae all over, followed by Secret Weapon Washes Ruby on the face, hands, and spine, Secret Weapon Washes Amethyst and Secret Weapon Washes Blue on the robes/body, and Secret Weapon Washes Heavy Body Black on the base. The dog got Secret Weapon Washes Ruby on the lower half of his body, Secret Weapon Washes Amethyst on the top half, and a mix of Secret Weapon Washes Ruby and Secret Weapon Washes Heavy Body Black on the base.

Then, I painted the spikes, claws, teeth, and eye sockets on the dog with Game Color Off White and then washed the top of body and spikes with Secret Weapon Washes Amethyst again. Next I highlighted the furry bits with Citadel Foundation Mechrite Red, highlighted the body with Mantic Warpaints Brown, re-painted the spikes with Game Color Off White, and brushed a little Mantic Warpaints Brown mixed with Game Color Off White onto the spikes and claws. The eyes were washed with Secret Weapon Washes Heavy Body Black and then dotted and lined with Citadel Colour Scorpion Green.

The ghost got highlighted with a mix of Game Color Scorpy Green and Mantic Warpaints Silver for a pretty, pearlescent colour.

Both bases got highlighted with Game Color Cold Grey and a little bit of Game Color Cold Grey mixed with Secret Weapon Washes Heavy Body Black.

The end result (with flash because I need another lamp):

So that's me claiming:

I think zenithal priming would be ok, as long as it's clearly just black/grey/white primer. I don't think colour on top of that would be ok, as to do that you've moved past priming and into painting.

Gotcha - however, a primed & basecoated model has been accepted as an oath for a while now (at least the last couple of threads), extending that to a zenithal-primed and basecoated model could be argued to be OK by some. Just tossing that out there, I'm happy to see where the discussion goes. (I've updated my follow-up question above to reflect that part-primed, part-painted model is clearly not allowed in the rules)

If the whole thing is painted over in one colour then it should be fine. Primed and then base coated, if the whole thing gets the base coat. Otherwise it's picking and choosing which bits get which colour, which is what I was saying no to.

Schmetterling

Maybe keep the rules as-is, but allow case-by-case basis judgement of whether the models of new oathers are suitable? That way, if they prime first then try to Oath they can get some leniency, but if they've read the rules or have oathed previously they can be expected to do single-colour.

The Amazon is the start of my Bloodbowl team, and the colour-testing experimental model. Hopefully now that I've decided which colour goes where, I can paint the rest of the team faster and with less re-painting. The skull marker is my Rolled a Six token, as a turn marker for Bloodbowl. The Jurnal is the fancy lichen-ed bases, and the little pokey bits added to the base of the Amazon. They aren't just for aesthetics either! Some of the other models in the team have a hard time lying on their fronts and backs, which is a necessity in Bloodbowl. I could've used square bases I suppose, but the models came with round ones and when I got them I had no idea where to get square replacements. Plus, the fluro orange will act as an instant indicator of whether a model is face up or face down.

Summary:
Rolled a Six - skull turn marker
Jurnal - lichen bases and pokey bits on Amazon base

This month I've learnt that tiny skulls have far too many tiny teeth, and also that bandages are completely unnecessary garments and very hard for me to paint neatly.

Backstory

Silent as the wind, the archer drew ever closer to his target. He left no sign of his passing; as his violet cloak flashed out of sight, it was as though he had never been. Smoke drifted through the pines, carrying memories of the hearth from which it came. The archer slowed, thinking back to the old man who had sent him on this journey. He had seemed too crafty for his own good, but the promised payment made even a likely wild-hawk-chase worthwhile. Inside this tavern, strangers waited. The archer did not fear the unknown, and was eager to meet his new adventuring companions. Eager, too, to introduce them to his own self; the legendary violet archer, Eagle-Eye!

WALK. WALK. WALK. SHEEP? SMASH! EAT. SLEEP. WALK. WALK. WALL? SMASH! WALK. WALK. TAVERN? FRIENDS! FRIENDS GOOD. ENEMY BAD. BEHEMOTH SMASH.

The dusty hamlet showed no sign of occupation apart from a few skittish chickens which scattered before the hooves of the mighty warhorse. Atop the horse rode an incredibly handsome man, almost godlike in his perfection. A muffled sigh ruffled his perfectly sculpted beard; how was he to proclaim the glory of the storm gods without an audience? He cast such doubts from his mind upon catching sight of the tavern; the first stone building he had seen in miles, and the likely location of the local populace, judging by the burst of noise that accompanied a suddenly opened door. He dismounted, elegantly, and gathered his tools; the Warhammer of Thunder and the Tome of Rains. He had been wary of accepting the old man's quest, but it was his duty as a paladin to share the word of the storm gods with all. This band of adventurers would surely be grateful to receive the assistance of a man such as he, the mighty storm paladin Thorin!

With a hiss, the pod doors opened. A robotic voice announced [Landing Successful]. Muffled swearing could be heard from inside the pod. A short time passed, and the robotic voice spoke again, louder [Landing Successful. Please Depart.]. The sound from inside the pod was now only partly curses; they were now accompanied by bangs and crashes as though a moderately sized creature was running around a kitchen with an abundance of pots and pans. Once again, the robotic voice spoke [Landing Successful. Please Depart. Please Depart. Please Depart.]. Interrupting this repetition, a man stumbled out from the doorway, clad in most of a Delta-Class Environmental Hazard Suit. With a gentle hiss, the pod doors slid shut. The man stumbled, trying to engage the final clasps of the Suit. Rumbling, the pod engines engaged, sending it back up to the sky from which it came. The man scowled, and began making his way through the trees towards a nearby stone building. This assignment better be worth it. The old man had offered serious cash for what sounded like an easy job - find this backwoods planet, meet up with some locals, and run a few errands. Lord knows that Terry Sterk, Delta-Class Environmental Hazard Suit operator, needed the money.

The star represents the guiding light of hope for all humanoids. The stripes represent the binding oaths that ensure that good will be triumphant. The shield represents the power with which the weak will be defended. The sword represents the regrettable use of force that is sometimes necessary to fight evil. It takes a strong man to defend Faerun. And that man is the Knight-Captain of Faerun!

Through the lens of her spy-glass, the aviatrix spotted her target; a small stone building in a forest clearing. There she was to meet her new companions, and together they would prepare to embark on a perilous (and hopefully profitable) journey. She smiled a dangerous smile. The old man had made many promises to convince her to join this venture, and she was eager to test her skills against the coming trials. Turning the wheel to her left, she expertly flew over the building. Anchors tossed over the side caught amongst the pines, and the zeppelin came to a halt, listing gently in the breeze. She checked her weapons for the umpteenth time, and prepared to abseil down to the thatched roof below. The boys below had better be ready to meet her; the notorious air-pirate, the Black Lady!

Hulk Behemoth was pleased to discover that the sun does shine out from under his purple skirt.

For In Battle I was going to take some photos of myself having a go at the new Malifaux 2.0 ruleset, but an ambulatory pumpkin decided that this would not do.

Despite the best efforts of the poor Flammenwurfer, the interloper remained undefeated.

This called for heroic action!

Unfortunately, the heroes were overcome by the soft fluffiness of their foe, and were last seen fast asleep, snuggled into piles of orange fur.

So that's Jurnal, Boxart, Strike a Pose, and In Battle!
