you can actually inflate your scrote pretty safely with sterile saline, syringes, needles, and aseptic technique. its a niche kink iirc

the saline just slowly gets absorbed into your blood but in the meantime you got a big round smooth distended nutsack

if it proves anything, musk's comedy of errors buying twitter is proof you can never have so much money that you can't blow it on stupid bullshit. how much money is "enough" depends entirely on someone's taste for stupid bullshit

The amount of poo poo I get for complaining about the difficulty of living on 80k in California from people back east when I'm dealing with medical issues hour drives and poo poo beyond that is infuriating. 100k is really really really solid and I am so happy to be making as much as I am but I am not going to be retiring anytime soon.

Just give me some public transportation, please. Or fix my potholes.

Spend less on Public Transport, Public Health, and Housing. Arrest more minoritiescriminals (reminder that not having a house is a crime) to save on firefighting costs.

Those are called “bus traps” i think - Stockholm has a fair bit of them around, where it’s a narrowing of the road and then a bit of k-rail that sticks up in the middle of the lane. The bus can go over it no problem, but cars will get their oil pan taken out.

Remember in 2021 when LAPD shot that girl in the dressing room when they were called out for some crazy guy hitting people with a bike lock?

Surprise Surprise CA DOJ doesn't recommend charges against the officer:
https://calmatters.org/justice/2024/04/california-wont-prosecute-lapd-officer-who-shot-teenage-girl-in-stores-dressing-room/

Previous analysis from back then:

BeAuMaN posted:

LAPD released edited video; no video of the moment of shooting, so you're only watching the moment up to the person dying and after.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uG_Z2OqlHw
My take:

I'm inclined to believe (though I'm not an expert, only being a firearm enthusiast and familiarity with such) it was a bad shoot. The bodycam is from the edited footage that LAPD chose to release is from the LAPD officer who shot both the suspect and the 14 year old girl. At 3:02 you'll see, just for a brief flash, on the left side, an officer walking ahead with a green firearm. You'll see that green firearm show up again at 3:14. That's a non-lethal firearm, usually of the bean bag or foam sort, as they're often colored green or orange to the best of my knowledge; for reference see PDF Page 10 of this doc; this one seems to be the 40mm foam launcher referenced in doc. From the looks of the footage suspect was what... 15? 20ft away? And was backing away from the officer and the victim; when the footage fast forwards to the suspect on the ground you can see they're in the same spot before the footage stopped right before they were shot. That means the officer with the rifle had time and space to deal with this situation in a different manner. De-escalation for one, while letting the other officers get in position, especially the one with (what looks like) the 40mm foam less than lethal launcher.

The generally accepted 4th rule of firearm safety is to always be sure of your target, what's surrounding it, and beyond. It's very easy to Monday Morning Quarterback police shootings, but even when LAPD seems to be releasing this video to spin it to put themselves in the best light, emphasizing the suspect beating various women, the officer that ultimately killed the 14 year old girl seems to have had time and space to pursue other means without firing his weapon, and if he had cooperatively relied on the rest of the members of his team there may have been a less lethal resolution to this encounter, but what the footage shows is the officer rushed ahead of his team and unnecessarily took the most lethal means to resolve the situation acting as a lone gunman, thus resulting in the death of the 14 year old girl. I hope the family wins big on civil, unless the city is able to claim qualified immunity which is again more bullshit.

BeAuMaN posted:

Thanks for that. That video definitely puts it in a worse light. They're talking about deploying the 40mm less-than-lethal on the suspect as part of the plan, and they're telling jones, who I assume is the guy on point with the rifle, to slow down, and he doesn't. Guy with less-than-lethal gets there just at the moment that the suspect gets smoked, along with the 14 year old girl. It's especially apparent starting at 30:34 (less lethal guy is in the bottom left view).

"California’s first cannabis company valued at over a billion dollars appears to have completed its long descent into failure. MedMen, once hailed as the “Apple Store of weed,” declared bankruptcy last week, according to a press release published by the company late Friday. "

and

"The company’s $1.6 billion valuation allowed MedMen’s executives to spend lavishly, including purchasing luxury cars, expensive security details and private jets. The retailer opened locations in Beverly Hills and Fifth Avenue in New York City, one of the most expensive real estate locations in the world, even though New York state had yet to fully legalize cannabis. At its peak, it reported employed more than 1,300 people and had stores in seven states, including three in the Bay Area."

Not sure how the lavish spending helped promote the sale of cannabis. In any case, it seems that people prefer buying it cheaper but illegally, as the dispensary business doesn't seem to be doing great as a whole.

What else? Taxes and regulation!

At least that's what I heard. Localities control licensing for weed sales afaik. A lot of them want to soak them for extra cash.

Allegedly weed minimum health testing is really stringent or something.
