I'm game for this, but since the Twins and Brewers are taken, I don't really have a preference for a team. I guess the San Francisco Giants? Gonna say AL-only DH. e: Swapped teams, I am taking the San Diego Padres, JosefStalinator is taking the Giants. Infidel Castro fucked around with this message at 18:15 on May 8, 2014 |

I'm for a budget. I was determined to make as competitive a team as I could for as little money as possible. I wound up with a drat good team for only $41m. Either way, as everyone's on even footing, i'm fine.

I was considering him as early as my pick (#8), but with the win now aspect of the game and the fact that I had arguably the best player at a rather thin position available, I couldn't pass it up. I think if we were going longer I still take Longoria, but Harper becomes a much more attractive option.

Craig is a RHB that can drive the gaps really well, which makes him a pretty drat good fit for PETCO. Infidel Castro fucked around with this message at 23:51 on May 15, 2014 |

The other players I was considering were Freeman and Zobrist. Freeman's essentially a left-handed version of Craig with slightly lower current ratings but has potential to be better. I might take Freeman if we were doing more than a year, but even then PETCO is murder on left-handed power. Zobrist would have been nice with his ability to play MIF and OF. I just think I can get a serviceable 2B later on, and Zobrist's numbers in sims never popped out as being very good to me.

Anyway, since I'm no longer phoneposting, I'd like to say that I'm quite pleased Parra made it to me. There weren't a whole lot of good options left in CF without making a major sacrifice in either offence or defence. Considering Parra's an elite defender with a league average bat, I really can't complain too much. I know his season this year has been pretty bad, but he's won the gold glove 2 of the last 3 years and is the reigning NL DPOTY. The talent's there. Plus I don't have to worry about a repeat of this from my OOTP game happening: Infidel Castro fucked around with this message at 06:36 on May 29, 2014 |

Here's hoping Ootpee matches reality. He also signed my ticket stub after the game. I honestly don't think Dozier is a bad 2B. In fact he's been one of the best defensive 2B in the AL over the past year, and he gets on base a ton. Fifth round was maybe a bit early on him, but I was honestly looking at nabbing him at the end of the 6th or early 7th. I must be weird in that the later rounds are more interesting to me than the early ones. Half of the fun is learning about a bunch of players I hadn't heard of, and the other is the game of chicken we all play to see just how long we can hold off on nabbing that sleeper.
