Any nonstealth game that attempts to force stealth on you for a certain level or mission, and you fail and have to start over if you get spotted. Usually pared with the equally obnoxious No-Gear level. If the game has my guy murdering dudes by the dozen with an arsenal of weapons, don't take that away and force me to sneak around, it's the fastest way to make me ragequit a game. If I want to play a stealth game I'd go play Metal Gear Solid.

So I started playing Gran Turismo 6, and instead of letting you buy whatever car you can afford, it makes you buy a Honda Fit. I'm a little miffed about this since I usually like to start off with an old RX7 in these games. Also, the menus could have been designed better. Japanese game developers seem to have a fetish for needlessly complex menus. Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS also have this problem.

GT6 is fun though, and the Honda Fit is actually a pretty good starter car, so it's a minor complaint.

But then I go to rearrange and suddenly they're tangled in everything.

The first Mass Effect is clunky as gently caress but it's still my favorite in the series. The sequels are streamlined to the point of being boring Gears of War clones and ends with a lovely ending.

Also, gently caress thermal clips forever. Way to gently caress with the games' universe Bioware. How the gently caress do you go from guns with unlimited ammo that need to cool down once in a while to guns essentially needing ammo and consider it a better design decision and make your characters think so too.

I should burn my N7 shirt. EA ruined Mass Effect. :arghfist::(

I actually had to stop playing Tomb Raider because of those gory deaths. They were too painful to watch. I should go back and play it though.

I do laugh however when Isaac Clark gets ripped in half or has a needle jammed violently into his skull, so maybe I'm either a hypocrite or Isaac being a dude wearing space armor lesses the impact some.

As for things dragging a game down, GTAV doesn't offer any real good money making opportunities outside of the heist missions, and is kinda boring to play. Seems like they moved all the fun stuff to Online and even then they managed to turn it into a grind. Does Rockstar just hate fun?

I'm terrible at turn based strategy so I played XCOM: Enemy Within on Easy. Even then things still got pretty intense at times. It still required tactics and planning but I could make stupid mistakes and not get too hosed over. I will also never understand why people enjoy getting hosed over by the RNG that's stacked against their favor.

New GTAV complaint, the car spawning system sucks. I can never find the car I want but as soon as I find one everyone on the road is driving it. It's like the game know when you are looking for a specific ride and sets the RNG to never spawn one without hours of searching.

Mother 3 sucks as a game. It's a fun story but man it's a slog going through four chapters before it gives you control of the main character proper. gently caress the monkey's chapter in particular, what an unfun mess that was. It also has the same problems as Golden Sun, TOO MUCH STOPPING AND TALKING. I get that JRPGs are dialog heavy but enough to with stopping and talking every couple seconds, I just want to go on Goonies-like adventures to weird places and bash strange creatures over the head with a baseball bat.

Earthbound is way more fun anyway.

When you get banned in GTA Online they reset your poo poo back to square one, and it's quite easy to get banned in that game with all the modders running around dumping cash on people. Now granted, I got banned because I did abuse mod menus like crazy since trying to play legit was an unfun grindy slog. It's obvious they wanted people to purchase those overpriced Shark Cards because it takes forever to earn money legit in that game overwise. No wonder people cheated like crazy.

Anyway, for whatever reason my money wasn't completely reset, I had enough to basically do things like Import/Export that paid more but I just wasn't it feeling it anymore, so I stopped playing it. I had fun with GTA Online but it was time to move on, and in retrospect it was a bad game with a toxic community. Even the goons I played with were obnoxious (to be fair I was also very obnoxious so it evens out. Games with PvP tend to do things to people I think).

Kinda burned out on multiplayer games after that.

Yeah I played Destiny 2 back when Bungie was still partnered with Activision. It didn't really click for me back then and I didn't get far so I uninstalled it and forgot about it. The game becoming F2P on Steam caused me to become interested again. Not having to sign in to another game launcher probably helped with that as I like having all my games on Steam or GOG if I can help it.

Starting a new character was an interesting experience but it was a change I approve. The original campaign start had some slow and painful moments so maybe that's why I bounced off hard from it.

At the end of the day shooting and punching aliens in the face feels good and I could care less if I started at power level 750 or whatever. Not every MMO game needs to be a loving grindfest.

Also, I forgot how pretty the game is. :allears:

I refuse to buy another Rockstar game after the shitfest that was GTA5/Online. There was not much you could do in single player once you finish the campaign besides dicking around, there needed more be post game side missions and activities.

And GTA Online? I could write a whole loving novel on how much I despite it, but I'll just say this, any game with an entry fee should not have the micro-transaction system of a chinese moblie game. You know something is wrong with the micro-transactions cost more than the game itself, and missions are deliberately designed to be annoying and tedious as possible to encourage players to open their wallets. Don't want to pay up? Hope you like driving slow rear end UPS trucks for your delivery missions.

The enemy NPCS in particular also really grind my gears....why the gently caress are gangbangers from the ghetto holding their rusty tec9s sideways have the same damage and accuracy of an elite marksman?

Speaking of lethal npcs, I really hated how fragile you were in GTA5. In the old games you were a one man army.

Oh, and these parts are all instant-death situations where the combat is minimal if present at all. Even the other very few more traditional platformer levels are more puzzle-like than brawling. And it wouldn't be that big of a deal if the opening stage didn't set a completely different expectation.

Check out the arcade game sometime, it's pretty much a pure beat-em-up without none of the gameplay roulette horseshit the other games in the series had.

The true purpose of FF1's monk is to be your party's packmule for weapons and armor since each character could only carry 4 weapons and 4 pieces of armor each and that includes equipped stuff. Having a monk means that you shouldn't encounter Can't carry anymore messages when opening chests.

So yeah, FF1s inventory system is garbage.

Mass Effect 2 sucks because they traded in guns that infinite ammo but overheated to a boring ammo system and they stripped away most of the RPG mechanics. It's still a fun game but man it was jarring going from ME1 to ME2 with all the dumbed down changes.

wafflemoose

Control is alot of fun but the combat basically devolves into spamming Launch over and over again since the Service Weapon's doesn't do enough damage against the higher level enemies. Feels like Pierce and Charge are the only forms that can keep up with Launch's damage. Not that yeeting stuff at enemies isn't fun mind you, it's just a shame that enemies become bullet sponges later on. Oh, and the number of times I've blown myself up with Surge is embarrassing, especially if you stuck a blast radius mod on it like I did.

Also been playing Ace Combat 7 and I've beginning to come to the conclusion that alot of the missions are way too gimmicky for my tastes, there's not enough missions where you just blow things up without some sort of curveball being thrown at you.

ME2 was such a jarring change from ME1. Guns requiring ammo, no inventory management, very limited RPG options.
