FF7 remake and KH3 are going to be "interesting" too.

FF7 is probably just going to be 15ish with maybe a bit of Crisis Core. Chances are they're going to have Crisis Core's plot be more of a thing in it.
I never played 7, but I think I heard Core changed the story a bit and it makes less sense or something?

KH3 looks like it's pretty much Dream Drop without the sleep mechanic. It'll probably still be a OK to Fun hack and slash but embarrassing to play at times.
The story is probably going to keep being a mess but it's nice to finally see how that train wreck plot is going to end.

I guess here's another minor nitpick about Xenoblade 2 that's spoilery: In chapter 10 you get sucked into this subconscious world where you fight all your party members negative feelings - and I thought it was kind of a missed opportunity to not have a re-fight with Vandham. It makes sense - since he's not alive or anything, but I thought it'd be cool to bring him back one more time after his death.

So I finished Xenoblade 2, and I was looking at what changes in NG+, and I can't help but feel they could have just let you unlock everything after you've beaten the game - instead of having to beat a fairly long game a second time.

And the fact that Xenoblade 2 only has one save slot has been leaving me on the fence if it's even worth trying out NG+ at the expense of having to reunlock/redo quests and fast travel points. Though mercifully your merc. rank and driver/blade progress is saved among a few other useful things - so its more like just walk through everything again with no challenge at all.

But I don't really see a point why rpgs like NG+ if its just really a few little things that change in games like Xenoblade 2 where nothing really gets locked out - save for one area that has nothing worth missing in it.

JRPG problems:

So I know that having an active battle party of 3/4 with a large potential pool of 8 different people is a thing jrpgs have done since forever, but man I can't help but feel it's a bad thing. You always end up with people who you never really use who are low level or underequipped. After playing FFXV, for all its flaws, i can't help but feel every jrpg I play should really just give you your entire party up front and let you use all of them in battle. It's just so much simpler.

That was a really big issue for me in Type: 0. Where you had a roster of 14. And only like half of them were decent, and then the other half was just horrible to play as. And only seem to be useful to sacrifice for summoning.

A small party is a really big plus for me in JRPGS with a "job" system. Like 3/5/defaults/X-2 only have 4(3) characters you need to manage equipment for - and your just swapping roles instead of characters.

Khimari's gonna need to be at full power so he can shoot one seed.
I think he does get one decent damage dealing move from the omega weapon that could count as an actual limit break I guess?
It's kind of a shame X handled Blue magic so badly since it's my favorite of the mage stuff.

It's like in Sonic Unleashed - to keep the levels a decent length they had to make them literally miles and miles long due to your ludicrous top speed.

They fixed this in Forces, where the levels are 1-2 minutes long. They got your back fam.

Interrupted conversations: I'm getting a similar thing trying to do companion quests in FO4 and they always seems to want to have a heart to heart in the middle of a firefight.

*sneaking around raider camp to line up silent kills*
"So, we've been travelling together for a while now..."

EXPLOSIONS AND GUNFIRE EVERYWHERE because this conversation just pulled me out of Sneak mode and now I'm dead.

And then after I've restarted, cleared out a million trash mob raiders and looted their worthless poo poo the fucks don't even want to have the conversation again and I have to wait for the next trigger point.

I hate pretty much everything about this new conversation mechanic tbh. Much prefer the old frozen head textboxes.

Preston had me in a loop of death because he kept wanting to dump his life story on me during a settlement attack.
Eventually while trying to click spam out of his dialogue I accidentally shanked him pickmans blade and he stopped talking. Hope that didn't break him.

I like the pacing of Unleashed's levels.

I feel like Unleashed starts out fun, until later on where the levels just start throwing so much stuff at you it gets hard to see/react as your whizzing by.
I had some trouble during holaska because the spikes floating atop the water blended in with the background, that my eyes couldn't register them and I kept dying.
And the QTE's get obnoxious after awhile. Especially towards Eggman land.

Pretty similar to forces where the levels start out fine, but as they want you to get more precise, you realize how truly bad the controls are (especially in 3D space - and classic sonic) that your kind of glad the levels are so short.
Likewise the QTE's also suck when your going for S-ranks, Metal sonics stage has a QTE against a random bot before his fight - that is pointless. And that QTE's are good for score, they can mess up your time bonus (especially if your doing time missions).

I was fighting one of the games super bosses in Xenoblade 2, a cow, and I was completely in the zone, had the guy down to maybe 10% hp - was going to finish him with a full chain burst.
I didn't make it to full. Then I got knocked down (with Morag) - and instead of coming to heal me Nia felt that it was her job as a healer to just keep attacking until she died.

And now I feel like I'm never going to beat that thing because I felt like I was playing perfectly and wow that is a really lovely feeling to have a super long boss fight only to lose right at the end.

I get too stressed in any Bethesda game with regards to having companions following me, and I blame this entirely on Morrowind. That game taught me that if you ever have a dude following me for whatever reason (usually a quest or something), you have to be drat sure to look over your shoulder a lot to ensure that he or she didn't get stuck somewhere, or have a conniption fit if you decided to go anywhere other than the flattest of roads. I still have memories of some Morrowind quest asking me to escort an NPC to a temple, or something, and halfway up a mountainside the NPC had skeddaddled off to god-knows-where.

It's really frustrating because those things (generally) didn't happen in later games Bethesda made, but it's one of those things I cannot for the life of me unlearn. Yes, I suppose I don't have to worry as much about Lydia stomping behind me but wait wait look back there she might be gone and you'll have to reload

This is why I'd rather have immortal npcs instead of being allowed to kill everyone. At least until you don't really need them anymore.

I grabbed Okami on the cheap at a flea market because I figured my 7 year old son would love it (he does) but, drat. Is it me or is this game just way too easy? I think I've died once and the only challenge after about 10 hours in is sometimes figuring out which way to go next.

If you want a challenge, just wait until you get to the last stonewall guy.

I must be really bad at Okami because whenever I play the first fight with Waka kicks my rear end something fierce.

The first wakka fight is the only fight I died too in that game.
I think it's because he jumps around a lot - sometimes just out of reach of your frisbee, though I did fine when I tried out the beads you get soon before the fight.

edit:
Xenoblade 2:
Started playing it again, I wanted to try to get the last of the rare blades, and even with everyone's thought clouds maxed - using all the boosters I can, I can burn through 50 core crystals and not get a single rare blade.
Also Ursula's quest was the most unfun thing I've ever had the option of doing in a game. There was no reason for it to go on that long at all.

Also there are way too many mini games in MM. Some of them are ridiculously hard.

Some of the minigames need to be won on each of the three days or you'd only get certain rewards on a certain day iirc.
The Deku Scrub minigame is pretty horrid.

Honestly most of MM's mini games are just bad and I can't think of a single one I genuinely enjoy and don't dread having to divert the fun parts of the game to suffer through in one form or another. Goron Racing is probably the "best" of them until you have to deal with its rubber banding AI.

Honestly, I feel the only Zelda Game that didn't have any scummy minigames - was Twilight Princess.
I think there's a ball maze game that's kind of rough - but its optional, and pretty much the hardest game is a snowboard race, which is cool because its a snowboard race against yeti's. Like Ski Free if everyone was buddies. :3:
