HideofBeast is a goon, but yeah, he's extremely talented and the amount of effort he puts in doing the challenges is amazing; and I'm sure off-site recommendations are fine, especially since some are mentioned in the OP.

It truly is and will forever be the best LP of Disaster; I miss Coulis' LP's quite a bit and wish he didn't host most of them on dead sites (cause I know no one will ever play Clock Tower 2 again).

Very much obliged; I still remember the seething hate from Coulis when they had to go through the tedious zombie shooting section. That game was such a wonderful wreck.

Aye, he did do both of those. The thing I remember most about 'Shadow...' was the semi random deaths that were thrown at the player for just walking around different parts of the town.

While I can highly recommend Crackle's LP of the first Penumbra (http://lparchive.org/Penumbra-Overture/), I feel that you might not have many options in regards to the other ones. There is one done for the other two games by Khad, but he much preferred a blind approach to his games and he wasn't always the best with editing out failure. But definitely give Crackle's a try for the first one.

Giragast does a pretty thorough and informative run through of what is easily an overlooked (and for good reason) survival horror game. It's basically Resident Evil on a boat, but Giragast breaks it down, goes into wireframe models and spawn points, and really shows more information about the game than most would assume existed.

I think it mainly came from the fact that people normally recorded a play through of a game in one long, continuous stream. I'm not exactly sure though who coined the term if that's what you're looking for, but it's become a common term for a long.

And I've usually enjoyed most of the adventure game/long plays that Retsu has done, like Dark Seed. Or the especially early stuff with proteus and Dave_O.

A large part of it is that they're not douche-y, and the accents aren't heavy I think.
