I'm not super familiar with his work, perhaps he's a left libertarian/socialist libertarian, which was the original meaning before the right-wing co-opted it?

Even loving Tolkein himself said he regretted tying up good and evil with skin color. Did your school not teach context and subtext, or are you just really desperate to justify everything you like as having no bad elements in it?

They can, but as Hunger Games showed us even mentioning the character's skin color directly doesn't stop that kind of thing. Tolkien specifically divided the races into good light skin races and bad dark skin races. Him not mentioning the specific skin color of every character doesn't mean there wasn't a clear implication that the Fellowship were all light-skinned.

Help, the sperg is coming from inside the thread. Viewing humanity as a problem that needs to be fixed is exactly the kind of attitude that leads to DE assholes in the first place.

So there was this really controversial game that came out recently called Hatred. Someone pointed out that the devs follow a bunch of neo-Nazi pages on Facebook. Their response was more or less "We're not neo-Nazis, but we think these neo-Nazi pages are the only ones telling the truth about certain subjects and saying what others are too scared to say". Scott and Yud aren't DE/NRx in the same way the Hatred devs aren't neo-Nazis. They reject the label, but that's about it.

Probably because they stick exceedingly clingily to the top down/great man theory of history and therefore most of their books they actually trust either predate organized feminism or come from other reactionaries.

Cingulate posted:How does this relate to the debate? I was agreeing with you, it's refreshing to see people point out that you always have to consider the ideology of the person telling a story even when dealing with events that objectively happened. The idea that ideology free objective history exists(and it just HAPPENS to support them) is one of the core lies that the NRx like to build their narrative on.

Cingulate posted:I should have specified that my claim was not about intelligence, but reading comprehension. In that vein: I'm not saying Scott's thoughts are this or that. (For what it's worth, I do believe there is little reason to assume he does think nerds are oppressed to the degree Black people are.) What I am saying is: If you honestly read the pastebin as implying "Scott is arguing ... nerds are as oppressed as Black people", your reading comprehension is bad. "He said 'I'm not racist, but...' so clearly what he said can't be racist on purpose". That is literally the argument you're making, that he can't be being disingenuous.

"I wouldn't buy myself a v-neck, therefore any man who gets one is just getting it as a gift from a woman and doesn't really want to wear it." It's dumb as gently caress. I buy myself v-necks because they're comfy and I think they look good on me but because he doesn't like them to him that's just proof I'm brainwashed by the feminazis or whatever.
