Sometimes using actual Miiverse posts in lieu of ones made by employees or whatever in their official stuff leads to weird stuff popping up like this one around the nine second mark.

I'd like to think that they're still going to show something from the game in their event, especially if it's their digital event were they can control everything that happens even if it's not gameplay. For some reason it's always a toss up between whether or not an on-stage Zelda game demos well live. Sometimes it goes smoothly like the Twilight Princess showing, other times you get stuff like the Skyward Sword demo and the lesser known Wind Waker mess-up. Hearing Trinen casually translate their train of thought as they realized the sword had fallen through the level geometry is both bizarre and endearing. Especially when Miyamoto tries picking up rocks and pots to try and see if maybe it's under them. Like when you lose your keys and you start looking under everything to find them.

I'm wondering just how they plan on topping the digital media event from last year this time around. You can say that the zeitgeist didn't translate to sales or that it was just reinforcing the "Preaching to the choir" mentality most of the directs are based around. But I don't think you can really call the event itself boring. At least not the segment that immediately followed the Robot Chicken intro.

Before we go into direct hype mode can I just give a quick shout-out to the Huffington Post and their amazing headlines? Especially since you don't even have to go digging in the tech section to see the story it's right there on the front page in the top bar. But that's not even the best part THIS IS: quote:A representative for Nintendo did not immediately respond to a request for comment. This doesn't appear to be an authorized use of the company's famous mascot, though, so you might try giving it a whirl before any cease and desist letters go out. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT? Why would you go out of your way to contact them about it before they had even done anything?

But yeah once something fan-made goes this viral and starts showing up on mainstream news sites I take it as a sign all bets are off at that point. The last high profile fan thing they had to shut I recall was that Full Screen Mario site that let you play a fully recreated Super Mario Bros. 1 whenever you wanted to on your browser as well as letting you make your own custom levels. That thing started getting pretty popular itself and started showing up on news sites everywhere before they put the kibosh on it. We know now of course why they wouldn't want an open-source, free and fully functional "Mario Maker" for anyone with a web browser to be able to play around with.

And its not like they were ported over with no changes; some of the retro stages are hardly recognizable after the upgrades. I can understand why they hardly ever go back to the SNES stages for potential stage remasters. With all the work they'd be putting into them it's like they'd be making an entirely new stage, so why not just make a new stage at that point? At least the GBA game has stages with pretty interesting and varied themes they're able to expand on.
