Why is it that every time there is a minis line called "Dark [x]" it's basically SM/T&A "fantasy battles"? It's like an unofficial trigger word: "Dark" = "The basement where the nerds who buy this are secretly wanking over it."

A lot of art work or conversions I've seen tend to have this similar Art Deco/Dieselpunk sort of vibe going for it, and this seems it wouldn't be out of place for it. My only gripe is the arms and legs look just a tad too spindly.

I have mixed feelings on this. Perhaps it's bias from being a historicals player leaking in, but it doesn't seem as bad as some of the other lot we've seen, what with all the rapey demon "dark dork fantasies". I mean, it's still tits on a mini, but I just don't feel offended by this compared to, say, the naked slave ammo carrier from a page or two ago. Like, I would've expected this scene in a 70's movie about WWII.

Is it worse or better to paint your IG as actual Red Army/Wehrmacht/US Marines or to simply borrow the color palette and maybe do some light converting to create the 443rd Communist Planet Regiment with winged skulls and eagles where the stars and hammer-sickle combos should go?

It would be so easy to evoke the image of your favourite historical babykillers or whatever, without going full nazi. I wouldn't be that offended by a Krieg Black Coat Regiment, though the red armbands would be a bit much.

I think when you start painting swastikas or giant murals of Aryan Pride on the side of your Elefants Basilisks, you've crossed a line. Though painting not-Nazis as actual Nazis in a game that doesn't have actual Nazis included for historical reasons is probably going to make people wince, cringe, think you're a weirdo at best and a closet supremacist at worst; and trying to explain that, no, you were just trying to achieve the aesthetic is going to sound like the flailing of a disillusioned mad man. Seriously, if you like the Nazi aesthetic and want to play an army that looks like Nazis, just go historicals and play Nazis. It'll at least appear less weird, and you can hand-wave the arguments with "someone has to be the bad guys."

Soviet iconography, at least in the west, will appear innocuous to the average passerby, and wouldn't raise an eyebrow except for the most groggiest of historical grogs if you started slapping pro-Stalin propaganda slogans on the sides of your Soviet Imperial Guards tanks. And US Marines? In the US, atrocities are going to get swept under the rug or white washed by the average American war gamer and average American observer, unless you do stupid poo poo like that Eldar rape diorama.

Basically, different imagery and iconography are treated differently depending on how your local society is sensitive to/willing to tolerate it. Just be mindful of how others may perceive what you're doing, and don't pretend it was an accident when you paint the loving 3rd SS-Division Totenkopf.

Also, black coat SS is loving boring for a battle field. Why the hell not fallshirmjagers? I'd love a chance to paint that cammo at 28mm level, but Warlord Games hates Taiwan for some reason.

I'd like to present to the board my thesis entitled Sexual dimorphism in fictional species and their representation in miniature

...in conclusion, as I have proven above, all females of any species, in order to maintain realism and verisimilitude, must display human/mammalian secondary sexual traits, including being smaller in stature; a thinner waist with large "birthing" hips, also known as the "hourglass" figure; softer and more "feminine" facial features; and a single pair of (preferably large so as to be easily recognizable at table top scale) breasts located on the chest area as they are on human females. Also, they should be posed in a manner that displays these features, as the character will appear "liberated" and be empowering for female gamers. Furthermore, *fart*

e: Addendum 1: Non-living characters or races.

Just because it's a robot doesn't mean there shouldn't be male and female robots. After all, even many females were turned into robots, and they probably remember being female and display such characteristics in some fleeting grasp of their humanity or identity as a former living being. See figures 1 and 2, titled "Female Revenant Titan 2":
