Believe what you want, Inhumans on this show are not happening until/unless they're introduced in the films (which Feige did hint could happen earlier than 2018, to be fair). You will probably start to see some TV->film integration, as opposed to just the reverse, beginning with AOU, but that's unlikely to ever be anything more than relatively small cameos or Easter eggs.

SHIELD is a companion series to the film canon, not an integral storytelling engine for it, and it's best to accept that.

Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division

Following the birth of the Super-Soldier and the rise of HYDRA in World War II, surviving members of the Strategic Scientific Reserve banded together to face the growing threat of the metaphysical to the borders of the United States of America. They formed the shadow operation called the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division, informally known as SHIELD. Funded by noted weapons manufacturer Howard Stark and overseen by the military's top general, Chester Phillips, the organisation was run by commended SSR field agent Margaret Carter (Corporal, 1st Class). In the 1950s, they were notably joined by the defected Nazi scientist Arnim Zola. SHIELD flourished in the background through the 20th century, becoming an international sanction-free taskforce answering only to the World Security Council.

In mid 90s, directorship was given to Nick Fury (Colonel, with Honors), a veteran of espionage missions. Under his leadership, SHIELD's reach grew to cover the whole world, overseeing the safety of the world from bases such as the Helicarrier, the Triskelion and the Fridge. During this time Fury worked on gathering together the best field agents in the world including names such as Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton.

When the metaphysical returned with Tony Stark's transformation into Iron Man, Fury put into action a plan referred to as the Avengers Initiative: to bring together a group of powerful individuals to prepare them to face threats to the world that could not be faced by anyone else. Stark was joined by SHIELD's own Romanoff and Barton; a God of Thunder from a world revealed beyond the sky, Thor; the uncontrollable alter-ego of respected physicist Bruce Banner, the Hulk and the original Super-Soldier from World War II, Steve Rodgers, who had been discovered frozen in suspended animation in the Arctic Circle.

After the Chitauri invasion of New York, SHIELD and the Avengers were revealed to the world. With the threat to the world greater than ever, SHIELD was granted new powers with which to defend humanity. Fury initiated Project Insight, a worldwide security network to proactively strike against threats. Unfortunately, Project Insight was hijacked by the return of HYDRA, which had survived as a splinter group within SHIELD itself ever since the recruitment of Zola.

The rebirth of HYDRA decimated SHIELD, leaving few loyal agents alive. The highest level SHIELD man left alive was one Philip Coulson, a company man with long years of tenure. Leading his own team of specialists Coulson fought back against HYDRA, destroying their Centipede cell as led by Jonathan Garrett. With Fury retreating into hiding, the title of Director of SHIELD passed on to Coulson. Now he must end the existence of HYDRA and protect the world from all threats both from this world and beyond, and we are watching.

Inhumans are also linked to the Kree (can't remember the whole backstory), so I'm almost certain that was a Kree. Question about rights though, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are both mutants, how did they manage to get them into Avengers (even though they are Avengers, hell Spider-man is an Avenger).

They'll have a different origin for their powers, presumably to do with Hydra experimentation.

That was amazing. I want Ward to turn into a psycho stalker ex for the whole team and spend the rest of the series following them around trying to help and not understanding why they won't accept him.

Hahaha, yeah. In season 2 they've found a way to make May consistently look like the crazy badass that we heard so much about her being last year. Whoever's doing their fight stuff now really stepped their game up.

I like that May now exists to get into crazy awesome fights. Even when she barely has a role in the episode's story she just tags along so she can spend some time kicking rear end.

So May is on Hawkeye's level for fighting? Interesting. Basing this off the fact that they said the assassin almost killed Clint.

May and Ward are supposed to be second only to Hawkeye and Black Widow. It took them a while to get there but after May's recent fight scenes and Ward's Hydra reveal I'd say that's a fair assessment.

I want a May cameo in Avengers 2 just so she can kick butt with Natasha :swoon:

Hawkeye is great because he's in a team with a man in iron armour, a man who is the physical peak possible for humans to attain, a Norse god and the Hulk and he manages to hang with them by just being a dude with a bow and arrows. The character was severely underused in Avengers and I'm hoping they'll get into the Cap/Hawkeye bromance in the sequel cause that's such a great relationship.

I think the no origins thing is being a bit misunderstood. I think it just means there will be no entire films dedicated to introducing a character. They don't want to waste the limited number of films they get out of these contracts with actors by spending an entire film establishing the character. So expect more characters to debut in other films before getting their own, or expect their origins to be established very quickly. I'm guessing Antman, will be the last film to introduce a new main character within its own film. Honestly, I think the new strategy is better since it wastes less time.

Yeah, I take it to mean they'll rush through the origin at the start of the movie and then get on with the main story. Like 15 mins of Dr. Strange going to Tibet and training with the Ancient One and then back to Greenwich and Wong for the majority of the movie.

The analogous comic characters haven't had secret identities in years and years. Everyone's always known Bruce was the Hulk, Don Blake got written out of existence at some point, Steve's been publically known as Cap off and on since the 60s, Natasha's always been in covert ops and Tony outed himself over 10 years ago. The only one who sorta has one is Hawkeye but he hasn't got any non-hero friends anyway so it's not really important. Secret identities just aren't a part of their character concepts any more.
