We will not have all of the changes that you deserve to see happen in your lifetime. One big thing about this poll, which I initially missed, is that Trump is now leading as 1st and 2nd choice amongst likely Republican voters. Meaning the traditional wisdom that support will consolidate primarily behind someone else once other candidates drop out is perhaps questionable? PS Trump unfavorability is 59% wrap it up Trumpailures.

Thanks, I live in France, so I got a pretty good sense of what's going on. My disagreement is: I don't believe that the proper response is to shut down the borders everywhere and deport everyone. The primary impacts of this crisis appear to be (1) immense misery amongst the migrant population and (2) a boom in the political fortunes of anti-immigrant political parties. I've seen very little negative impact on the countries through which this immigration is occurring.

What exactly about the fall or Eric Cantor, John Boehner or the last 4 or 5 government shutdown dramas makes people think such a thing exists or exists with anything remotely like the size and power to do something like that escapes me. As I said, I think Trump now has a path to the nomination. He probably won't win Iowa. But he could well win New Hampshire. And if he does, he has in place a large enough and persistent enough national lead that he could do it. * and does that really exist as a coherent body?

I'm not really sure why anyone views this as some devastating attack against her campaign. The National Review is getting pretty fractured over the Palin/Trump alliance. David French quote:perhaps we should consider that the combination of her personal relationship with Trump, her personal experience suffering from years of the most vicious and personal attacks directed at any current or former politician in the United States, and her deep convictions regarding policy priorities for the next president have led her to this decision Charles Cooke quote:And so it has come to pass. Like Palin, Trump has mastered the art of the interminable ramble, the purpose of which is not to convey meaning or to advance a useful argument but to stun the audience into dumb submission. Like Palin, Trump has embraced his ignorance and wielded it as a sign of strength and normality against the ever-protean “elite.” And, like Palin, Trump has betrayed his desire to fix the political system not by mastering or replacing it, but by becoming it. This isn’t an insurgency, it’s a shakedown. And the conmen are moving in packs.
