My parents had (and still have) a fancy rolling desk that is a fixture. Not entirely sure what mom uses it for but it's still there.

Not this specific one but a similar design. Pretty sure their's wasn't thousands of dollars either.

My dad had an actual rolltop one he used for storing coins he'd run put on railroad tracks.

That's all I remember it being for, that and bills and such. Dad stuff.

Reminds me of those machines at amusement parks that would take a penny and smoosh it into an oval shape with a different design, usually the park mascot.

Never see them anymore, not sure how they were legal either since you were destroying or defacing a coin.

Edit: Apparently they're still around and plentiful, 3,300 or so. Guess I just don't go anywhere anymore

Hey another “I saw weezer live and it made me hate them” person. I still people the story about how bad they were. I describe it by saying I could have sat home, played their CD, and looked at a photo of them to get the same exact experience. They just stood there, no energy, no interaction. Just boring as poo poo.

I went to a Summerland Tour concert last year; Everclear headlines them and this show had Wheatus, Hoobastank, and Living Colour opening in that order. They all talked with the crowd and amped them up, Wheatus had two drum sets and kicked rear end. The lead singer of Living Colour walked up and down the aisle through the crowd while singing Cult of Personality.

Everclear just stood up there and played their songs with zero energy. I understand Art is like 60 and had a hard life but drat.

Hoobastank was also pretty good but I hadn't listened to them since the early 2000s when I was in high school.

The band Sublime came up in a discord chat. Apparently they just played halftime at an LV Raiders game. That seems impossible since the band ended in '96.

quote:

Sublime with Rome is a musical collaboration between Eric Wilson, formerly of the American ska punk band Sublime, and singer and guitarist Rome Ramirez. The group's name is not only a reference to the singer's first name, but to the fact that they chiefly perform songs by the original Sublime, which was fronted by Bradley Nowell until his death in 1996.

When they did the HD remaster in 2010 for consoles (delisted in 2013..) they used the exact same script, bad translation and all, for the new voice acting.

I don't have a source for this because my mind is a steel trap but half of it is a steel sieve.

Back in the days of AOL (very 90s) I somehow got a hold of some old lady's log in information from one of the prog guys. I logged into her account and messaged the first person I saw on her friend's list that I had a new song if they wanted to hear it.

"gently caress gently caress gently caress a duck, screw a kangaroo, finger an orangutan, orgy at the zoo" then I logged off for fear of being arrested.

12 year old me was such a rebel.

Surprisingly it also has its own YouTube channel, too. That ad is absolutely embedded in my memories.

$168.48 in 1996 for two books, two audio cassettes, and four VHS tapes. $327.29 today.
