I had a really, really poo poo day at work caused by my boss's paranoid, byzantine political machinations. Someone please post pics of cute animals that clearly give Absolutely Zero Fucks about worldly problems.

Goddamn it's dusty in here.

It looks like there's a still-running IndieGogo project for getting Thomas (the homeless guy in the video) back on his feet, too. It's absolutely demolished its goal. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/help-thomas-to-get-a-fresh-start

Given Maru's love of tight spaces, I'm pretty sure he's in heaven in this video. I can imagine the whole trash can rumbling with the sound of his satisfied purring:

Oh, yeah, wombats are little indestructible tanks of solid muscle. They can kill a dingo by diving into a hole, then when a dingo pokes their head in after they crush the dingo's skull with their butt.

God I love Australia.

I really shouldn't find these little vignettes with Philae so adorable. :3:

They're honestly a brilliant piece of marketing on the part of the ESA. You can see it with just how public and how big the whole Philae thing was when they first landed on the comet.

And they are genuinely adorable :3: Cutest little lander.

If you've never heard his name before, watch this video and get ready to turn on the waterworks. In a good way.

Last night five minutes before falling asleep, I found out that my only remaining grandma has liver cancer, and it's quite aggressive. I was planning a visit for the spring anyway (I live on another continent), but now I may have to make an emergency trip in the next few weeks to be able to see her one last time.

Someone post me some dachshunds. :smith:

So I was adopted by a kitten. I was at a restaurant and this really small street kitten snuck in all the way to the back and started nuzzling at my feet under the table. I went outside, gave him some cat food that I had in my car and left him eating it. To my surprise, he came back running while dodging the waiters. I decided to bring him back home, since he was too trusting and fearless to survive outside. I was going to put him up for adoption but I can't see myself doing that, he got me good.

I only have one cat, and I was concerned about how he would accept the kitten. Luckily for me, this small thing is not only a master of diplomacy with humans, but with cats as well:

Black cats best cats.

My first and so far only experience with Australian summer was in Perth over Christmas two years ago. I think the highest we hit was like 38 or 39, but honestly it was very tolerable (and I'm a person who hates heat), largely because the air is extremely dry and the wind off the Indian Ocean is strong around parts of the area (namely Fremantle). The sun can be pretty oppressive though and I'm still astounded that there aren't massive sprawling solar panels in the bush.

And speaking of my Perth trip:
