I've done that (as in that exact thing shown in the .gif). There are surprisingly few customers injured, though the drivers tend to be insane and when they don't have anyone in the boat they do even more dumb and dangerous poo poo. One died a few years ago.

Well also poo poo like Instagram and Snapchat have a lot to answer for, you cant film stories horizontally in those apps and it's only fairly recent that IG let you upload a horizontal video to your stories If you're only watching poo poo/browsing on your phone as people increasingly are then it also makes sense not to have to flip your phone to get the full view
