Honestly, the biggest reason Touhou is so popular is that people are given so much freedom to make fanart of it, and some of said fanart just knocks it out of the park. Especially with respect to music- it's great enough that you have something as kickass as Ghostly Eyes as the default, but when some genius takes it and turns it into Deep Night, it makes people want to find out more, you know? Or maybe people look at the character designs, see how untypical they are for the usual Japanese nerdbait fare (seriously, compare Touhou to, say Kantai Collection), and get interested. At least that was how it happened with me- I thought Flandre Scarlet's wings looked cool, and it was all downhill from there  EDIT: Ramos posted:There's a Touhou image for that. As I recall, Bioware wanted something with a pulpy sci-fi flavour, so of course they needed a race of space babes, resulting in the Asari. However, between Tali being anyone a player can imagine beneath the mask, and Brandon Keener sounding smooth as gently caress thanks to both his natural voice and the Turian sound filter being two great tastes that taste great together, they became love interests in the next game. Hell, I heard from somewhere that Garrus had the second most lines in ME3 thanks to his popularity among both male and female fans, which is a lot of work for a character who might have not survived to see that game. EDIT: Might as well post some fanart.        (might be , I guess?)    (definitely  )
