Any other good sources to pick up a Z3 Compact besides directly from sony? I bought one for myself from handtec and now they're out of stock, but I still need one for my wife.

Try Swappa.com

Edit: that is if you are in the US and don't mind a barely used one. Or you could apply for the Sony credit card and they will credit your statement $200 with your first $500+ purchase. That would net a new Z3c down to $329. Don't do this if you are religiously against a credit inquiry though. If you aren't buying a house/car in the near future it's worth it for some to save $200.

Once upon a time, I rooted and stripped out all the manufacturer apps from an LG G3 (system apps). As in deleted them totally (not disabled). It was smooth sailing, until I reset it to, well, sell the thing. Factory reset...results? It was totally, 100% hosed. Would not boot. Wouldn't work. I was about to give it to Goodwill until I finally found some shady LG software.exe online to re-image it. This is a photo of sausage being made.

By the grace of something, it flashed to factory defaults and a stock system image. Godspeed, sir.

Yes I'm aware the Note 4 isn't tiny, but it *feels* smaller. Plus it actually has software that matches the large display. If anything, it's worth it to not need to touch cum stained hotel remote controls.

No. Every Wacom digitizer ever made lacks precision at the edges. All of them. They are all jumpy and off at the edges. This is why Microsoft used n-trig in the SP3. Far more accurate tracking but doesn't have 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity.

The unresponsive part? Defective or Samsung'd.

So if I were to buy a Nexus 6 direct from Motorola, they're going to charge me sales tax, and that $649 phone turns into $722. Amazon has the phone for $649 all-in, shipped via Prime, but it's locked to AT&T.

I'm seeing people on eBay selling Nexus 6 unlock codes for like $8. If I buy an unlock code, can I put my Verizon SIM in it and have it work same as if I bought from Motorola or the Play Store?

IMO, don't buy the Nexus 6, but if you insist, do something like this:

http://swappa.com/listing/LDE730/view

If it doesn't work out, blast the seller with a PayPal dispute. Swappa's never screwed me though, so there's that.

By the way, Motorola will honor a 3rd party sale. So you would be covered via warranty for 10 months (for this particular listing).

OLED is still a relatively new technology and the organic compounds used degrade pretty quickly with use, reducing their ability to emit light. Burn-in is directly proportional to the amount of light emitted.

While that is certainly true, Samsung, hate or not, does a fantastic job with it's OLED panels. I don't recall seeing a jacked up Samsung display yet. Even store models running demo loops. Moto Xs? All of them have burn in from store demos. Samsung has it's poo poo together with it's display tech, full stop. Even with the :supaburn: 750 nit sunlight readability mode of the Note 4. Sammy's like gently caress it, crank the panel up. It'll handle it.

Yep - the poster I quoted specifically mentioned store models so I posted one.

I also specifically mentioned a Note 4 which has a newer SAMOLED. Thanks for googling the pic though! I'm willing to bet that panel is akin to the ones used in the X/Nexus 6. Its older tech so yeah. Buuuurn in.

Yes its possible on 100% of OLED panels. I just havent seen it on Samsung's newest panel tech. N of 1 = a seriously anecdotal observation I'm aware. I'm sure an image of a Note 4 display model that looks worse than your IMG will show up and be paraded around the angry mob. Cool of so. I'm not digging around because I've yet to see one.

Nobody uses their phone like a display model which is on 24 /7 at maximum brightness so this entire concept is pretty stupid. The only place where it's really concerning is the fact that Motorola phones that are in normal everyday real use are getting burn in very fast. No good.

Edit: Ok, preemptive. Yes, I specified Note 4 at the end. The callout is coming, just clarifying. Didn't mean to infer zero Samsung OLED has ever shown burn in. Of course they do. Newest ones? Dunno.
