Year and a half ago I moved positions away from my old boss and her boss. We're still good friends though and day before Christmas I'm out a lunch with my old boss's boss (who is also the same guy my new boss reports to). I kinda sorta just told him straight up that my new boss is basically never around and I've seen him maybe 6 times over the course of 18 months and I've just lost all motivation. Fast forward to today and effectively immediately I no longer report to new boss and now instead report to the VP and at some point in the next 90 days my title jumps from Supervisor to Manager. I'm loving terrified. Edit: I should say this is exactly what I needed though, back to having a boss that gives a poo poo. I should be less terrified and more yay but anxiety. Then after wards he's the one stuck on site until the entire workforce leaves so no one goes around shortening everything by an inch. Edit again: Just remembered that a few years ago the laws changed so that scrap yards now have to report all purchases now, including seller information. It's pretty bonkers. I think the bearings on either my AC, PS or alt took a poo poo. She's normally squeaky after it rains but it's been a week and all its done is get louder. /sigh.

I cut the cable TV cord 6 years ago and I don't miss it in the slightest. One odd side effect though is that I have no idea what movies are coming out or are playing because I don't have those specific commercials being crammed down my throat and I don't spend a lot of time on "movie news" sites.

Heh. Here's some things I really appreciate as someone who conducts way too many interviews which may or may not be super obvious to some people. 1) Relax and smile. I know it's terrifying but forcing yourself to slow down your emotions is really going to improve the quality of your interview conversation. 2) Don't ever feel bad about taking a bit of a pause to answer something. Don't rush it. I'd much rather wait for the interviewee while they come up with something I want to hear. It's not a race. 3) If you smoke, don't. It permeates a room and hella distracting. 4) If they ask for a copy of your resume during the interview don't be that guy with a USB flash drive or a link to something. Be a normal person and have a paper copy. 5) I tell people during interview feedback sessions to really think about those stock questions everyone hates (eg where do you see yourself in 5 years? how to you manage multiple tasks? how do you manage conflict?) for two reasons: We do actually care about those things, they aren't always filler and know that you're one of like 10 interviews that person has done that day so you can probably guess how the other 9 people answered it....middle of the road and boring. Separate yourself. Answer it with life/career stories that are applicable and interesting to listen to. Anything to make me remember your name instead of interview #8 that happened at 2:30 PM. 6) Be excited about yourself. If you aren't excited about who you are or what you can bring to the table I can guarantee I wont give a poo poo. 7) Bathe. For the love of god, bathe. How do people not get this? A "special" cat has made my back patio it's home tonight. She's skin and bone, the most affectionate thing I've ever seen (seriously affectionate), and mostly blind. She can sense difference in light changes up close but that's about it as far as i can tell. Her facial structure is a bit off too, it's hard to explain and I'll post a picture later but like her cheek bones are pushed forward slightly. It breaks my heart but I already have three cats and honestly can't take another one in. Ugh I don't know what to do.

The cat from last night.   Other than the mostly blind part she's built a bit odd. Cheeks are really far forward and her ears are more towards the top of her head. I also think someone gave her a tendonectomy too.
