Endless Mike posted:Its tone is "bad" so that wouldn't be a good fit at all. Did you stop watching halfway into season 1 and never look back? Anyway, the current (and likely last) season of AoS seem to be focused on the supernatural side of the MCU (and LMDs), so too late for Taskmasker to pop up there.

Didn't a recent X-men series feature the cucoos actually branching out and trying to differentiate themselves a bit from each other by dyeing their hair among other things, or did that get caught in some cosmic reset too?

Perspective incorrect texturing isn't really something that is unique to Stan's jacket. Still, he's the most famous example of it that comes to mind probably.

I think the quote about it was regarding Escape from Monkey Island, the first 3D-game in the series, too rather than Tales of Monkey Island. Escape was made back when fragment shader effects wasn't really a thing yet, so they had to figure out entirely from scratch how to program it rather than it being supported by the hardware rendering calls already.

Bruceski posted:The original: a coding mistake that they liked and decided to keep. It wasn't so much a mistake in the original as it was just that doing perspective-correct patterns on the clothes of animated 2D sprites takes a lot of loving effort that they apparently preferred to spend on other things. It also took extra work to recreate the same effect in 3D with post-processing shaders, because perspective-correct texturing is the entire point of 3D, but by then the look was well-established enough that the effort was worth it.

That's true. I was mainly thinking of Tales of Monkey Island, but they also did the effect in 3D for Escape from Monkey Island in 2000. The first graphics cards with programmable shader support didn't even come out until 2001.

darthbob88 posted:That's Streets of Rage, which originally came out in '91 from Sega, so right on both counts. Ironically three of the four main characters in the game are supposedly former police officers, who have gone vigilante in reaction to local government being corrupted by organized crime. So despite what the image implies, the game is arguably more optimistic about law enforcement than what reality warrants, insofar that its corruption is portrayed as an aberration rather than its natural state in the absence of effort to prevent it.

I love that they lean into that underneath the mask, bits of Anakin, the dork who occasionally pull pranks and make bad puns, still shine through.
