Alabaster White posted:Yeah, exactly. Math shouldn't NEED context. It's loving math. I bet you argued with the teacher about showing your work, didn't you? MATH(S) work irrespective of context, sure. But this is schoolwork. You aren't demonstrating that you can summon the correct answer from any old place. You are demonstrating that you can apply the steps/reasoning that was taught in class. That problem is out of context more likely due to selective photography than bad writing. The top of the paper may well say "use the methods taught today in class" or some poo poo. The problem here is that parents resist new educational methods and when they try to help their kids with their homework, they don't bother to understand the context, just mock NEW MATHS and tell their kid to sass the teacher about it then post a cropped photo on their anti-government blog. I work with kids and see this poo poo all the time.

I cannot tell you how often people came in and insisted that they needed a dumb thing to stupid thing adapter that could not possibly do what they expected it to, and I always jokingly referred to a Cat5 to garden hose connection as one such possibility of a thing you could physically have, but that would not loving do anything. As such, I laughed my rear end off at this.

Something is wrong with your sense of humor edit: I came back to update: that comic is more sad than funny, however, Your judgement of the Sandler crew as crap is absolutely correct. This is actually a much more important indication your character, so I retract my statement. edit2: the second bee's expression in panel 2 is pretty funny The Bloop has a new favorite as of 22:45 on Feb 15, 2016 |

I was actually thinking of posting this as a counterpoint to the bee comic because I do find this funny even though it's tragic. There is just some quality about PBF that makes the difference. Perhaps the overly saccharine style makes it more obviously absurdist. The lack of suicide also helps.

Jonathan Yeah! posted:This makes me upset. A) Male bees don't even have stings, and b) even if they did, the stinger wouldn't be ripped off from stinging another bee. Also, c) the pheromones from a sting would encourage other bees to sting the victim. Furthermore, d) how loving small is that flower / big are the bees. Please point out the male bee in the picture. You need to get with the times! (Yes, I know there are some minor logistical problems with the concept lesbian bees, but it's not supposed to be a nature documentary. [this also applies to your original ciscomplaint])

Elfface posted:It's not suicide - when a bee stings, it dies. It accidentally stung it's lover, killing them both. Romeo and Juliet is TWO suicides! Granted that they are based on misconceptions. Also, in panel 3 you can see that the bee did not lose its stinger and die because it is still attached. It then RIPS OFF ITS OWN STINGER and kills itself, as you can see the stinger on the ground in panel 4
