The Raiders are actually really cool and the only thing stopping me from changing teams when they inevitably move here is that they aren't any good. Well, see ya

It's harder to get between those places than it looks on the map. It's definitely doable (I've gone the other direction to go to Chargers games), but it's a way bigger pain that having the team local. And while it's true that the Chargers have a decent sized fanbase in LA, the people actually in San Diego don't view it as a LA suburb or something. It's it's own awesome city and they want it to be treated as such. A team playing in Carson isn't going to feel like it's really part of San Diego.

Not only that, but San Diego is literally the 8th largest city in the country by population so there's no reason to think of themselves as LA Junior. SD to LA wouldn't even be the shortest distance between two NFL franchises, even ignoring the stupid poo poo like SF to Oakland, Cincinnati and Indianapolis are closer to each other, and I don't think anyone thinks those two teams should share a fanbase or w/e

Maybe right now, but a bunch of people will change teams. The fact that they are better, and will presumably for the near future continue to be better than the raiders is a definite plus

The Raiders have a pretty big fanbase in the area from the last time they were here even after moving and being terrible, I don't think that's going to decrease dramatically once they're actually playing here again.

They didn't move the last time because no one cared about them, they moved because the stadium situation was godawful and LA was broke and had no interest in improving it.

Oh of course but for all the people here who have latched on to dumbass random teams (like, oh, say, the bengals) and are more interested in rooting for a local team I think they'd probably choose the one that, at this moment, is better. Maybe that's wrong though idk

I never really understood the traffic concerns because other than like one MNF game and one TNF game a year it would all be on Sundays and who gives a poo poo then?

I don't see any way it affects the Rams. Kroenke already has land for his stadium, and they're a vote away from being allowed to build it. He's likely getting what he wants anyway. Chargers and Raiders are just fighting for a second stadium to be built in the city that they could both play in. As long as a good portion of each fanbase sticks with the team and watches on TV, ratings will be up, and the two stadiums should at least get frequent decent attendance, albeit not sellouts. Rams would probably be at best the second-most popular NFL team there if they aren't the only ones to go, but they're already not the most popular sports team in St Louis anyway so that's not a shocking development.

Now on the other hand re: traffic, if both these stadiums got built though lmfao at the 405 when both the Rams and the Raiders/Chargers have home games
