I have a question about Porsche interiors. A couple of weeks back I put in an order for a Taycan 4S in Volcano Grey with black leather... and saw some photos of the red interior and am having second thoughts. The build isn't locked yet so I can change and there's not a noticeable price difference. Anyone got a Bordeaux Red interior? How well does it age? I think the black full leather (plus the Dark Silver accents and the RGB lighting) looks pretty awesome but maybe isn't very "special". Basically the same interior as my order Bordeaux Red The back seats look great in a contrasting colour. Here is the config http://www.porsche-code.com/PMME3W30 Thanks for advice

That does look nice. I do wonder if I'll get pissed off with the red on long journeys (may not be a problem in an EV). I've just discovered that you can spec the centre panels of the seats in a different colour which also opens up the lighter colours I'd disregarded as too likely to get messed up. Too many choices!

It turns out that the problem was already solved by Porsche having brought my manufacture forward by a week, so the spec is locked. The black is awesome anyway. Delivery is a month away, can't wait.

I've ordered some new wheels as they were a third of the price in Germany to here in expensiveland. They will need TPM sensors, any idea if I need to get them from Porsche directly or can I get generic ones? Maybe a bit silly to be penny-pinching on these but reading around they should just be the same things. They will be summer wheels so probably not any rush, though they will be going to the dealership for storage so it might make sense for them to be complete. The TPMS manufacturer list these as for the Taycan and all the part numbers match up, and the specific model "can be used directly and without programming after installation"... so should be OK? https://www.pkwteile.ch/huf/14501114 https://www.intellisens.com/fileadmin/fetch.php?pdf=/fileadmin/pdf/Produktkatalog_2019_PDF.pdf https://www.intellisens.com/fileadmin/fetch.php?pdf=/fileadmin/pdf/Produktkatalog_2019_PDF.pdf http://www.products.intellisens.com...2940C0C6E6B5B8A These are the wheels https://www.reifenprofi.de/felgen/o...-gedreht?c=4834 knox_harrington fucked around with this message at 15:20 on Sep 19, 2020 |

Now just need to persuade the dealership to swap out the 20" summer tyres it comes with for some 21"s and we will be all set.

I saw on another forum a photo of the Taycan frunk without all the panelling. There's a lot of plumbing in there! That's going to be expensive if you prang it into anything.

There is still fun to be had but in general I go way slower than I did back in the UK. A real plus is that they put a load of effort into maintaining roads so even the high passes are mostly in great condition.

I drove up the mountain roads for the first time in the Taycan last night. This thing is incredible, just so much torque. It hides the weight well, going uphill at least, I'll see what happens with 2200kg heading downhill tomorrow.

The Taycan is still super impressive. It's been parked up for just over out in the open up high in the mountains, though under a cover as I learned my lesson last time it snowed. Only lost like 1% of charge. I had to come back to civilisation today and it is just so good on the mountain roads, I really don't notice the weight at all. It also gained charge going down from the mountain to the Rhone Valley which is pretty cool. Then really comfortable and quiet at 140kph on the autoroute.

Thanks for the advice. Ordered the P Zeros and looking forward to maybe May sometime when I can see what the 21in wheels look like on the car. Reading elsewhere, Porsche charged someone €1250 for a set of TPMS so I'm feeling relatively smug about only paying €150 for OEM ones, also per thread advice. Cheers! More neige overnight. I've been pretty good so far but there was one incident in my previous car where one of the wheels got a good scrape while my girlfriend was driving. That was the main reason I got the rear wheel steering! Nightmare The 360° cameras are pretty much essential for parking as well, it's a big car and the visibility out of the back is poo poo.

My Taycan came with a really lovely plastic license plate holder which has been annoying me whenever I notice it. The holder was fairly badly screwed onto a plastic mount which itself was attached with plastic trim clips. I got a flush mounting kit which turns out to be some very expensive velcro. It looks a load better, though not as good as no plate at all. knox_harrington fucked around with this message at 20:56 on Aug 17, 2021 |

I think deliberately driving with no front plate would be a recipe for getting immediately stopped and totally shafted by the extremely humorless Polizei And also reported by every other driver you pass.

The French speaking bit where I live is much more chilled out than the German bit. I think the further West you go, the more normal it gets. My girlfriend and I have made friends with local people who have not called the cops on us. Once you have a connection I've found that people are very warm, but there is a very insular and individualistic attitude in general. It is not generally welcoming to foreigners and I'm sure particularly if you're not white. I have a holiday home in the mountains in rural Valais and the people there are a much tougher nut to crack than in the city, I only really know expats there. I can definitely see why some people would not think it's worth the effort. I've made some good friends though and the quality of life is great. Working from home and skiing in my lunch breaks is mind-blowing. The driving is absolutely dogshit though.
