It's my birthday so I thought I'd revisit something I made a couple of times as a student: Doner meat between 2 potato scallops. In this case a mix of "lamb" and "chicken" doner meat. Didn't pay attention to the camera settings but that isn't really a problem for this thread. e: That wasn't how you spelt "doner" freelop has a new favorite as of 22:16 on Mar 23, 2015 |

Chard posted:...you know, that's actually not a terrible idea. The unit-scale is dumb but there's nothing wrong with a tube of egg in principle. Eggs are one of those foods that you really can't gently caress up unless you just burn the poo poo out of them. I'll see if I can find the picture tonight but dumping an egg into ramen as it cooks produces something diabolical. Thought it would cook like the egg you get in Chinese soups

In the UK it is(was?) traditional to make the top layer of a wedding cake out of fruit cake and keep it until the christening of the first child.

Trip report from something I didn't know existed before today 2 chicken burgers, bacon and cheese between 2 waffles. The sauce is maple syrup and is perhaps my new favourite thing to put on fries. Not going to drum up a story about death as it was gorgeous and I would eat again

SymmetryrtemmyS posted:A lot of Indian food looks pretty appetizing, but some of it just can't help but look like a variety of chunky diarrhea. This is baingan bhartha, a smoky eggplant dish that's absolutely delicious. I love curries, on one occasion during uni though I decided to get one from the local indian owned chippie. The oil was actually washing any curry off the naan bread I was dipping into it so I decided to tip some of the oil away into my doom room sink

It is far in excess of the amount of oil I've ever had with any other curries. Dishes are often oily but usually it gathers in little pools on the surface rather than making a complete layer.

AnonSpore posted:What if you stirred it so the oil mixed in with the rest and then ate it quickly before the oil could separate and come to the top again? I tried that, it would silt up like disturbing sand at the bottom of a puddle by the sea but it would all fall to the bottom straight away. I would add that after removing some of the oil it was very nice.

Spotted this on the back of my marmite jar this morning I instantly thought of this thread when reading that and took to google to find out how you apply marmite to sausages but was dissapointed to find out it actually wants you to put marmite in gravy to have with bangers and mash Instead I decided to go with my original plan and add marmite directly to the sausages with all photos taken on my lovely camera phone Here is the trip report Not seen here: sausages Aha! Frozen Richmond Irish sausages, fresh is always better but ends up being too expensive. I had hoped for some badly freezer burnt ones but they seemed to have survived alright. The middle one is starting to go at the top All cooked The plan was to have one control sausage, one with the marmite put on and eaten as is and one with marmite added and then put in the oven for a little while longer I'd never put marmite in the oven before so I wasn't sure how it would react. Left is control, middle is uncooked marmite, right is cooked marmite. Also I decided to put it on my chips since I was already there The result: Success! Obviously it was incredibly salty, the marmite was fine raw on the sausage but really shined when baked. The baked marmite sausage tasted like a meat twiglet which should really be a thing. I suspect that baking marmite for more than a few minutes like I did would result in fire pretty quickly though.

Canned olives are the only way locally to get anchovie stuffed olives which are required in martinis. I tend to remove them from the can and put them in the jar as soon as the can is open though.
